Hello there! I am sharing a slimline card using the Whittle Racing Giraffe Kit! There are many ways that you can color your die cuts and today, I used a combination of ink blending and alcohol markers with my colored cardstock to create this card. I pulled some scraps from my scrap pile and used my scraps to create this card. I typically cut more than I need as I am adding details, I may make changes. Worst case, I have few extras for the next card.
I die cut a white card panel 3 3/4 inches by 8 1/4 inches. I ink blended the sky and grass onto the card panel. I created my dirt road with some kraft cardstock and added some ink blending to the edges. I adhered this directly to the card panel. I then started building my scene to figure out how many giraffe's, trees, cars and clouds I could use. Next I determined where I would stamp my sentiment.
I typically don't have a plan until I can start placing my die cuts around and start to see the scene come together. I love to have my images go beyond the panel like the second giraffe with this head going above the card, having the cloud and tree extend beyond the sides. For mailing, I would use a large envelope and will add a piece of cardstock to the envelope slightly larger than my card to help provide support to the inside of the card. I used a combination of ink blending to each of the die cuts and then added more details to the giraffes with my alcohol markers and adding little bits of extra card stock behind the mouths of each one with darker cardstock.
To finish off my slimline card, I added some Fairy Jewels. What are your tips for adding color to your die cuts? Hope you have a wonderful day!
