A Bird Bunch Birthday
by Rachel Duong

IMG_4643

Hello there! It's Rachel, and I am excited to share a birthday card with a bunch of birds! I also want to remind you to join in our April Poppystamps Challenge. The theme is "Look Out The Window!" Create a card with a window or something that resembles a window on it. You can also create a scene as if you were looking out a window.

My window card features fancy birds with so much pizazz! I used the Poppystamps "Nordic Bird Bunch" die, it comes with six birds. I die cut the birds using pearlescent white and aqua, navy and white glitter paper, and a periwinkle shade of blue. Paper comes from Memory Box paper packs listed below. I assembled the birds and I used a fine point black Sharpie marker to color the area for the eye. Also don't forget the orange beaks!

Next I die cut the "Arched Gothic Cathedral Window" in white cardstock for the top piece and Memory Box "Anemone Grove" patterned paper for the accent. Using the negative shape of the window, I traced it on a piece of vellum, cut it out and glued it under the window.

I die cut the "Nordic Lacy Plate" in a heavy white cardstock. This is a beautiful backdrop for any card occasion. Then I adhered the window to the background and adhered it to a white cardbase.

I arranged the birds on the card. I glued them down when I felt it looked just right. A Happy Birthday sentiment strip fit perfectly on the window trim. Finally I added a beautiful embellishment at the top of the window.

I had a blast creating this card, it is just too "tweet!" I love the shades of blue and the fancy papers with glitter and shine. The birds are so handsome in their sweaters!

That's all for today. Please join the challenge. Link up your photo and two winners will be selected. Good luck to you! See you very soon.

Nordic Butterfly Wishes
by Birgit Norton

IMG_5554

Hello Poppystamps fans!  Are you enjoying the spring release?  These Nordic dies are all so beautiful.

Today's card is light and lacy.  Here's what I did.

IMG_5549

I started by cutting the Nordic Flourish Background out of white cardstock.  I cut the frame out of vellum.  I love how the vellum softens the flourish background.  I mounted them onto an A2 sized white cardstock base.

IMG_5547

Next, I cut all the pieces of the Nordic Spectacular Butterfly out of teal, aqua and Delicate Pastel Glitter cardstock and layered them up using foam squares.

IMG_5552

I glued one of the butterflies onto the card front.  Just look at the lovely layers and all that dimension.

IMG_5550

I stamped a sentiment from Christmas Banners and cut it out using the coordinating die.  I tucked it in under the butterfly with a little dab of liquid glue.

Challenge Reminder PSC #113 Heart Eyes
by Tricia Barber

Hello!  February is the month of love!  I love to make Valentine's Day cards and the Scallop Pinpoint Hearts and the Nordic Flourish Background are perfect for a lacey valentine!  I love this backgound die and have used it many times.  The die cuts beautifully, I do use a metal shim in my Big Shot to die cut.   I love paring it with vellum and have used it today on top of the vellum shadow die but have used it under vellum!   I die cut the Nordic Flouish background with white cardstock and the shadow die with light pink vellum.  I added this to the top of a pink cardstock panel.

I die cut the Scallop Pinpoint Hearts from silver and gold foil cardstock from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad.  I added foam adhesive to the back to layer this onto the panel.    I added a label where I created my own sentiment with the Harrison Label Set and the Poetic Lowercase alphabet dies.

This card was made for this month's Poppy Challenge themed Heart Eyes!   Have you played along yet?  I finished off the card by adding some pink Fairy Jewels using the pastel jewels.   I hope you will play along with our challenge this month!   Happy Valentine's Day!

Another way to use the Nordic Border Craft Die Set

Hello Poppy Peeps!

Remember the cards I made a few months ago? One was the Delicate Lace Card using the Nordic Border die set, and another was a set of Wedding Cards using the Nordic Border die set. Well, as usual, I cut out a lot more than I actually needed and this time experimented with colors too! I don't have a great eye for color so I typically resort to supplies that make it easy, such as all the paper pads that Poppystamps offers! Other times, I just start with white card stock and color them with inks or stamp pads such as Distress Inks etc. In this case, I used a combination of both methods, and also threw in some vellum in there. I might try a pastel version the next time!

I started off by affixing all the strips and borders, organizing them by color, onto a regular piece of white card stock.

Following that, I used a hexagon die set (though any shape would work) to cut out hexagons of varying sizes from the card stock adorned with the variegated Nordic borders. Subsequently, I arranged these hexagons in a random pattern on a standard A2-sized card.

Earlier, during a foiling spree, I had utilized the PSF806 Modest Banner Greetings Hot Foil Plate and Craft Die to foil some sentiments. From that batch, I selected one of the sentiments and cut it out. Additionally, I made use of the unused foil area to die-cut blank banners, which I then adhered onto some of the hexagons.

I ended with adhering two vellum borders to the top and bottom of the card panel before mounting it on an A2 card base. And that was it, actually!

Thoughts? Questions? Epiphanies? Would you want to remake these cards? Would you do anything differently? Which one do you like more? Let us know in the comments below! We love to hear from you!

Thank you for visiting!

Love,

Just a Note

Hello!  Tricia here with you today to share a card using the Nordic Crown Flower die.   I love clean and simple cards but I think you can step them up by adding something unexpected.  The unexpected on this card is the detail Nordic Flourish Background die cut out of white cardstock layered behind  the light blue vellum panel.  You can see more details in this next picture!

IMG_4071

I die cut the Nordic Crown Flower from various blues and greens from my scrap pal.   I created three of these using all the die cuts!  I mixed my greens on the stem to add some variety.  The sentiment is from the Modest Greetings 1 Foil and Cut Die Set.   I added my flower with liquid adhesive but left the upper part of the stem not glued so that I could adjust the stem over the flower portion.   I added my sentiment with some foam tape.

Peace on Earth

Hello!  Tricia here with you today to share my card for this month's Poppystamps Challenge for the Cool Yule.  I use the Wide Pine Needle Shoots Craft die along with the Nordic Doves die.   I love the Nordic dies with all the layers and the tiny details like in the dove wings.  I die cut the doves from white, green and red cardstock and layered with liquid adhesive.  I used a Copic marker to color in the white doves beak.

IMG_3630

For the Wide Pine Needle Shoots die, I created an ombre tree with a variety of green card scraps.  I added a tree topper using the star from the Whittle Rainbow Unicorn kit with silver cardstock from the Vintage Pastel Mirror card pack.  I saved all my extra Wide Pine Needle Shoots die cuts to make matching tags for Christmas.  I always save my extra die cuts and this helps when you need to make a quick card or tag for a gift.

IMG_3632

My main card panel is a layer of light blue vellum cardstock and underneath I have the Nordic Flourish Background die for a look of lace underneath the panel.   The sentiment is from the Christmas Banners clear stamp and die set.   Here is a close up of the layered card panel.   I hope you will join along with this month's challenge and share your Cool Yule inspiration!
