Hello there!  I am sharing a card made using the new Whittle Pirate Monkey Kit.  These new Whittle kits are just too cute.  I was channeling a certain movie series and wanted to create a monkey ghost ship.   I started by die cutting all the images from the Whittle Pirate Monkey Kit from white cardstock.  I used my copic markers to color in each of the images.  Check out all those details on dies that leave impressions on the die cuts for the monkey's and the ship!

To create the background, I started out with a light blue card base.  I then ink blended with three different shades of blues and aqua inks.   I started with the darkest color at the bottom and worked my way up the panel to create a very soft blend.  When you start with a colored cardbase you can use the colored cardstock to be your lightest color - less elbow grease!   I splattered with some white paint.  Once dry, I stamped the sentiment that comes in the Whittle Pirate Monkey Kit and stamped the skull and bones using the darkest blue ink.

I used a mix of liquid glue and foam tape to add my die cuts to the panel and create some dimension.  I used a mix of thickness with my foam tape.  I added some Fairy Jewels to add a little sparkle!   I love how it turned out!   Check out the Whittle Bit of Fun release in the Poppystamps shop!  I hope you have a wonderful crafty day!

Gator Fun
by Tricia Barber

IMG_4757

Hello!  I hope you are having a great start to your summer.  I am sharing a card I made with the new Whittle Tropical Gator Kit.   This is such a cut kit! I used colored cardstock to die cut the images from the kit.  To add details to my die cuts, I used a sponge dauber and some die ink.   The gator die comes with some teeth! So cute!  I aded a toothy grin to both my gators.

For the background, I started with peach cardstock and then die cut a circle as a mask for the sun.   I then used three orange dye inks to ink blend onto my sunset panel.   I then splattered the background with white opaque paint.   I stamped a sentiment up in the corner that is from the stamp set included in the kit.   For the ground, I used the Whittle Field and Trees die and then ink blended onto the aqua panel to darken up.

To assemble the card, I added the palm trees with a mixture of liquid glue and foam adhesive.  I used woodgrain cardstock for the palm tree base and coconuts. I added my gators with foam tape and then added some sparkle with several orange and blue fairy jewels.  I love the orange sunset!  Lot's of gator fun!  Check out the new Whittle Bit of Fun release!   Hope you have a wonderful day!

Flower Cart

Hello! Tricia here with you today sharing a card that I made with the Corner Shoppe release.  I used the new Corner Shoppe Wooden Cart die set along with Flower and Leaf Sprinkles die set.  I love this vintage inspired flower cart.  The Flower and Leaf Sprinkle die set is so adorable with the cute tiny flowers.  So much fun to create! I used the die to die cut several different colors of cardstock.  Now I have plenty to use for future cards!

I created a focal point with the Scallop Pinpoint Rings. I layered this onto a panel of light orange vellum.  I love using vellum on my cards.  It softens the look of the cardstock and I layered a lacy panel underneath.  It is hard to see in the photo but in real life it adds just a little extra to the card panel!

I finished off the card panel with some fairy jewels.  I added a foiled sentiment using the Modest Greetings 1 Hot Foil Plate and Die.  I hope you have a wonderful and crafty day!

It's Cake Time

Hello!  Have you checked out the new Corner Shoppe release?  It has some adorable new dies with tiny little details!  Love it!  I decided to create a bright and cheery birthday card.  I started with some yellow patterned paper from the Memory Box Glimmering Gladiola paper pack.   I used the new Scallop Pinpoint Rings using the second largest die to cut a circle.   This actually gives two die cuts and you can use them together or seperate.   This started the foundation of my card base.

I used the new Flower and Leaf Sprinkles and Corner Shoppe Birthday Treats dies and die cut from white cardstock.  I used the negative die cut to hold the pieces in and backed it with some post it tape.  I colored the tiny die cuts with my Copic markers.   Keeping them in the negative makes it much easier to color.  I love all the little details in the Flower and Leaf Sprinkles set.   This was perfect for adding details to the tiny cakes.

I added some details to the banner by adding some of the tiny flowers, fairy jewels and a white gel pen.  I love all the details that you can add with the tiny die cuts.  How adorable would these be to make tiny cards for a Barbie or doll house set?    The sentiment is from the new Birthday Banners stamp and die cut banner set.   I hope you have a wonderful day!

Birthday Wishes

Hello! I am still a newbie when it comes to Hot Foiling.  I have foiled many a plates instead of my cardstock!  I thought I would share a tip that I have found has been useful and helped with my foiling process.  For today's card, I used some dark blue cardstock with the Deco Shells Hot Foil Plate.  You can foil on any cardstock!  I always thought that you could only foil on white, but foiling on colored cardstock creates such a wow effect!

IMG_4379 (1)

Believe me when I say I have thrown away many panels!  I traditionally cut my cardstock down then foiled on a perfect 4.25 by 5.5 panel.  My results were never great until I learned to use a larger piece of cardstock, larger than your hot foil plate!  Trim your panel down to 4.25 by 5.5 or 4 by 5.25 panel after it has been foiled.   I typically will use half sheet and then trim away the edges.  Yes, you will have odd pieces of leftover cardstock but it is better than throwing an entire panel away!  The Deco Shells Hot Foil Plate created such a pretty panel on this darker cardstock!   For my sentiment, I die cut the Birthday Wishes Moonlight Script die from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Gold Foil cardstock.   The shadow die was die cut from light blue vellum and white cardstock. This created such a soft background for the gold foil sentiment.

I thought the panel still needed a little something and added a matching light blue butterfly using the Nordic Butterfly Trio craft die and added a small gold jewel from the Christmas Fairy Jewel to the center.  My mother loves butterflies, so this card will be added to her card stock stash to use!   What are your tips for hot foiling that you can share with me?   I would love to know!   Happy Foiling!

Spring Blooms
by Tricia Barber

IMG_4384

Hello!  I am so happy it is Spring!  I love the warm weather, planting flowers and pops of color everywhere!  Thinking of planting flowers is what inspired my card today.  I used the Nordic Flower Heads and Nordic Flower Pots and Stems dies to create a trio of bright and cheery flower pots!   I die cut the flowers and pots from several different colors of cardstock using Memory Box 6x6 pads and layered them together with some foam adhesive.

IMG_4385
I used some Distress Oxide ink to darken my pots to look more like clay pots adding with a detail ink blender brush.  I had die cut the leaves and stems from different colors of green cardstock.  I mixed up the colors as I built my stems.  The background panel was die cut with the Cortina Pinpoint Plate.  I love all the details that this die adds to a card panel.   Poppystamps has the best details in their dies!

IMG_4386

The sentiment was stamped and die cut with the Spring Banner craft die - this comes with the stamps and banner dies.   To finish off my card, I added some jute twine tied to the top.   I hope you have a wonderful day!
