Northern Holiday
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_5861-wm

Hello Everyone!

We are so happy you could drop by for a visit! Snowy December is certainly here, so today I am sharing a snowy winter scene! Take a look at this Northern Holiday!

IMG_5859-wm

I started by creating a background of blended distress oxide inks spritzed with water for a soft, fuzzy look. I have fallen in love with our collection of whittle animals, so I used this adorable Whittle Fox against the soft white of thicker watercolor paper. I think he really stands out. Add a few stars from the All Star Collage and you have a sweet winter scene.

Star of Wonder
by Donna Peachey

Snapseed-2

Star of wonder, Star of night

Star with royal beauty bright...

IMG_4315-2

With Christmas fast approaching, I thought it might be nice to take a little break from card making.

And I don't know about you, but sometimes I take a look at a die and my mind starts to wonder 'what if'.

So today's post shows just what happened when I first saw the Deco Tree Frame craft die set...

IMG_4318-2

I took one look at that tree...   and wondered if I could make it into a hanging star.

IMG_4316-2

Want to see how this was made?

Snapseed

You will need 20 of the inner parts of the trees and 10 0f the outer parts.

This photo shows that I've already glued them back to back - which you'll need to do before anything else!

You'll also need 2 of the Folk Star - cut from corrugated card as shown.

Snapseed 2

Start with the Folk Star.  You'll need one, good side face down.

Cut a circle that sits just inside the inner corners of the Star and glue it into place, then add the outer sections of the Tree as shown.

Don't use your red liner tape for this as you may want a bit of 'wiggle room'!

Snapseed 3

Once happy, add some glue to the centre and leave those outer sections to dry.

Then add those inner sections of the Tree.

And then add those outer sections again so that they marry up with the first lot.

Snapseed 4

Once everything is completely dry, add just a touch of glue to the very ends of those outer Trees and pinch them together until set.

This adds a little more strength to the design.  It is going to be hanging, after all!

Then add the other Folk Star, good side face out this time.

To decorate, I've pierced a hole through the centre just big enough to add two bells on a string. I've then tied a knot and cut off most, but not all of the excess twine.

The finishing touch?

Texture Paste.

Add as much or as little as you like!

Here's one final photo...

Wintertime Fairies Slider Card
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0084

Hi there! Nancy here, and I have an interactive card to show you today. It's Slider Week at Poppy, and Memory Box has released a new die set to help you create a slider.

DSC_0003

The set offers 4 sizes and shapes, and is used with your stamps. Let me show you.

If you've never done a slider card, You Tube has several videos and how-to's. My slider is made with 2 pieces of foam fit together within the cutout, and attached to my fairy. A pulltab with ribbon slides the image through the slide.

DSC_0008

The stamp set I used is from the darling new Wintertime Fairies, (coming soon!) and has a coordinating set of matching dies.

DSC_0074

The sweet holiday fairies set has 3 fairies in different poses. I stamped, cut and colored my fairies and images first,

and created my background card base from Distress Oxide Inks. On the bottom of the card I created a stencil by tearing a piece of paper in the shape of a hill before spritzing it with white spray.

DSC_0087

The scene has the flying fairy starting at one end of the card, and flying to the other end, lighting the Christmas lights banner.

I hope you enjoyed my slider post today. Remember to check back to see how each designer  used this useful and fun die set!

And don't forget to leave a comment to win a stamp set of your choice. Good luck!

by Ilona Zbieg

IMG_6270

Hello and welcome to the fun Poppystamps Blog Blitz. The blog blitz runs from May 10- May 21, 2017.

The new collection full of fairies is magical. My daughter loves the new fairy die.

Today I am sharing a card I created with the brand new Floral Dancer Collage. I attached glitter wings to the back of the dancer..

I colored a white  paper with Peerless Watercolors from Birch Press Design, . This is the background of my fairy.

Because the card will be presented as a gift to a teenager, my daughter's friend, I added a lot of pink color and glitter additive.

Don't forget to leave comments as you have a chance to win this Floral Dancer Collage.

You're A Star!
by Sue McRae

Welcome crafters, Sue here with a card today!

P1340981c

I have a hard time making cards for the guys or for teenagers. Feminine card just seem easier to create so I decided to put away the flowers dies and stamps and not let myself use any glitter or any pink or purple and this is what I came up with.

I started off with a piece of water color paper, sprayed it with water, sprinkled on Color Bursts and just let the pigment do its thing. While this was drying I die cut a bunch of stars from dark grey card stock using the Scribble Trio set. This die set has three fun shapes: a star, square and circle. I adhered the stars all over the dried background.

P1340997c

For the sentiment I took the Spectacular Happy Birthday set (which consists of three dies) and die cut the bottom layer in a medium grey, the middle layer in dark grey and the sentiment in white. The sentiment is made from 4 layers of the white card stock for a thick chipboard look.

P1350006c

To finish off I added a few small stars die cut with the Superstar Sash.

Thanks for visiting us today!

Happy Birthday
by Jinny Newlin

Morning, y'all!  It's Jinny here today; and I'm so excited to be back, sharing a project, showcasing more of what our January 2017 Release has to offer!  This one made it to my brother-in-law, for his birthday, late last week.  Enjoy!

Poppy Happy Birthday - JinnyNewlin

I started this card by watercoloring a piece of watercolor paper in various shades of green.  I then speckled it with those same watercolors, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints, before using the Happy Birthday Tag craft die to remove its center.  I then went back and filled in a portion of that center with a separate, Basic Black, cardstock, Happy Birthday Tag die cut.  The entire piece was then backed with a sheet of clear cardstock to create the window, which was filled in with a variety of sequins, seed beads, and a number of cardstock, Tiny Feathers die cuts.

1.9.17 084

For the back of the window, I used a plain piece of white cardstock so as not to compete with everything else that was already going on.  Black-threaded, straight, machine stitching secures all the layers together.  The entire piece was then popped off the surface of the white, cardstock, card face with foam tape and dressed up with a double, white, seam binding ribbon bow, embellished with a black, gingham bow, as well as a black button, laced with teal twine, tied in a bow.

1.9.17 077

Thanks, as always, for humbling us with a visit!  Have a blessed last day of January, and we'll see you next month!  Hugs!
