Challenge Reminder: Fall Frolic
by Dana Kirby

SavingPNG-1

Hi Friends! It is Dana here today with a reminder that you still have time to enter this month's Poppy Challenge: Fall Frolic!

For my card today I started by creating my background. I used Yupo paper and Alcohol Pearl Ink in: Splendor, Deception, Alchemy and a little Gold Mixative. I just kept adding the inks with a little blending solution until I created my desired background.

Once my background was dry I ran it through my die cutting machine with the Autumn Leaves Sidekick Frame Die.

Next, I stamped my sentiment from the Autumn Leaves stamp set onto a rectangle that I die cut from the Autumn Leaves Sidekick Frame. I then die cut a few leaves from the Autumn Leaf Set to add as an accent to my sentiment.

I mounted my Autumn Leaves frame onto a piece of kraft cardstock. The alcohol ink had enough color and design that I wanted to keep my background fairly simple.

Lastly, I inlaid my sentiment back into my frame and then mounted my card panel onto a top folding A2 card base.

I hope I inspired you to play along with the challenge this month! You can find all of the details about the challenge Here. I can't wait to see what you create!

Magic In The Night
by Jeanne Jachna

Magic-In-The-Night
Hi friends!  It's Jeanne here today and I'm sharing a sparkly Halloween card.  Halloween really is my favorite holiday.  As a child there was no other night that was as magical and mysterious!   I got to roam the neighborhood in disguise... AT NIGHT!!!  and get treats from every house I visited!   Now that I'm grown it still captures my imagination!  The neighborhood comes alive and  I love seeing the kids dressed as superheros, storm troopers, princesses and more.
Magic-In-The-Night-Three
My card captures a visit to the pumpkin patch on a chill night.. the sky is dark (and sparkly with stars).. .. did you hear that?   Are the spirits haunting  or is it just a black cat hunting field mice in the night?
Magic-In-The-Night-Six
This card starts with the Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Fame cut from white cardstock.   I colored the pumpkins and vines with Copic markers.  You can use any brand you like.. the reason I favor Copics is because I color ALOT.  Copic markers are easy to refill  so I never have to buy a new marker.
Magic-In-The-Night-Five
I wanted LOTS of CONTRAST so I decided to layer the colored die cut over a panel of ombre blue distress ink.    Orange and blue are opposite each other on the color wheel making them COMPLIMENTARY.  This means that together they have the strongest contrast.   The panel is inked in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink.  It's splattered with water to add some depth.  Next I adhered double sided adhesive to the distress panel and topped it with the colored Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Frame.
Magic-in-the-Night-Two
I stamped the sentiment from the Pumpkin Patch Clear Stamp Set on the panel and inserted it into the frame.  A sprinkle of clear crystal fine glitter pressed into the remaining exposed adhesive adds lots of sparkle and shine!
Magic-In-The-Night-One
The Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Frame also includes a few extra pumpkin die cuts.  I colored a few and adhered them with adhesive foam tape over the pumpkins on the frame.  A Whittle Ghost and Black Whittle Cat make this scene more fun!
Magic-In-The-Night-Four
I hope this Halloween brings back some magical memories for you, and that you create some new ones to reflect on  in coming years!  Hugs to you!

There is Magic in the Night
by Dana Kirby

SavingPNG-4

Hi Friends! It is Dana here today and I am happy to be back sharing a Fall card with all of you.

IMG_5056

I started my card by die cutting the Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Frame from moss green cardstock. Isn't this frame Gorgeous? I love all the details!

IMG_5057

I then used the coordinating stencil and ink blended Distress Oxide Ink in Spiced Marmalade over the pumpkins. I love how the Sidekick Frames include a stencil, it really adds to the possibilities of the die and makes it super easy to add another color or layer to your frame.

IMG_5060

While the Distress Oxide Ink was still tacky I added clear embossing powder to the pumpkins. I then heat set the clear embossing powder. This gives the pumpkins a little extra shine and added detail. Although it is hard to photograph the shine on the pumpkins, this extra step is really worth it in my opinion.

IMG_5061

Next, I began creating my background (night sky). I used Distress Oxide Ink in Faded Jeans and Seedless Preserves and Distress Ink in Black Soot. I used a blending sponge and ink blend the colors onto Bristol smooth cardstock. Once I was finished I spritzed my background with water and let it dry.

I decided I wanted my frames to be kraft on my final card design. So I die cut the Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Frame from kraft cardstock. I then trimmed away all of the pumpkins and vines. Next, I laid the kraft frame over the moss green die cut and attached the two frames with a little liquid glue to my ink blended background.

To finish my card I stamped my sentiment from the Pumpkin Patch Stamp Set onto my rectangle. I ink blended a little Orange Marmalade ink around the edges and inlaid it back into my frame to finish my card.

I hope you enjoyed my card today!

Have a Wonderful week and I will be back soon to share another project with you all.

Challenge Reminder: Enchanted
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0039

Hello and Happy Halloween! I have a challenge reminder for you, one I hope will be enchanting. Our challenge this month has a Halloween theme, but instead of spooky or scary, how about Enchanted?

DSC_0042_wm

The beautiful Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Frame and Stencil was my starting point. I watercolored the whole Frame, pumpkins and leaves with my metallics.

DSC_0022

They go on like watercolors, but the mica in the paint gives a glow to your images.

The frame and enchanting fairies were glued onto a sponged inked base. Then a bit of Nuvo Glimmer Moonstone added to the fairies. How would you create an enchanting Halloween card? We'd love to see!

There's a 20.00 gift card for the winner of our challenge, that runs through the 29th.

Hope you have a great and creative week!

Festive Noel Christmas Blog Blitz
by Tina Wilstrup

Watermark1.56926563398E12

Hello Poppy fans! The Christmas/Winter Blog Blitz is in full swing and I'm here to show you some inspiration using the gorgeous Festive Noel die.
Watermark1.56926563398E12

I wanted to use "sort-of" untraditional colors so I started by loosely ink blending a panel of watercolor cardstock with Mermaid lagoon, Blueprint sketch and Wilted violet Distress inks. Ireally wasn't careful with the blending. I spritzed the cardstock with water and dapped off the excess with a paper towel. Then I diluted a tiny drop of silver acrylic paint with water and splattered it over the panel. I even spritzed it with Sheer shimmer spritz for extra sparkle because - Christmas...

I also die cut the Festive Noel 4 times and the Pumpkin Patch Sidekick frame once. With my scissors I cut out all the pumpkins from the frame.
Watermark1.56926563398E12

The frame and the one Noel cuts I covered in silver sparkle embossing powder. I then layered the Noel cuts and adhered the frame and Noel to the card. I inlayed a single layer of the Noel negative cuts to make the word stand out more.
Watermark1.56926563398E12

I inlayed all 4 layers of the berries and topped them with white Nuvo drops and also added a little shimmer to the inlayed letters.

Our Holiday Blog Blitz began September 19, and just like our Fall/Halloween Blog Blitz, we are offering amazing blog candy and giveaways every day! All you need to do is leave a comment and you could win the die or stamp set featured that day! That's MY idea of a Holiday treat!

IMG_6275

I love all the colors of the winter holidays, but this Festive Noel die has a traditional holiday vibe for me, so I decided to use traditional holiday colors, red and green foil paper! I cut the Festive Noel twice, once in red and once in silver. I then cut the Holly Vine Sidekick Frame out of green foil, then carefully pieced everything together against a light silvery white glitter background. I must have tried a dozen different background papers until I found the one that was just right for this project. This color combination works for me, and all that shiny foil reminds me of vintage holiday ornaments and decorations. The Festive Noel fits perfectly in the frame of the Holly Vine.

Now it's your chance to win this amazing Festive Noel die to add to your holiday collection. Simply leave a comment on THIS post before midnight on October 2, and you might be selected to receive a special gift from your Poppystamps Secret Santa! Winners will be announced October 4th.
