by Pam Simpson

Hello everyone, Pam here today..sharing a background I created on watercolour card, with water colour inks and coarse sea salt..something I have wanted to try for a long while.

Wet and inks added

Top picture shows my water colour card taped down onto a glass cutting mat, I have sprayed the card ..make sure it is really wet..Bottom photo..I put  small amounts of lilac and green liquid water colour inks on my glass mat, mine are by Rare earth UK company. using a small paint brush I dab onto the wet card as shown.

Ink and salt

Onto the wet card I have sprinkled coarse sea salt..

Bottom photo as it looks when left to dry.

Rather than waste my card..I gut it using my trimmer ..I need a frame 5.1/2" and square.  Can you notice the effect you get using sea salt! looks like pretty flowers (to me) lol

I cut Poppystamps Wishes diagonally across the square card.

Mat onto dark purple the square. infilled with another Poppystamp cut wishes in purple..I made a feature`s using Whittle Wood Frames and tiny pearls ..

to finish white satin bow..hope you like my background and something I will use again, enjoyed my what I call messy day!.

Challenge Reminder...Summer Holiday ..
by Pam Simpson

Hello everyone, Pam here today with a challenge reminder and my project for our Poppystamps challenge 57# "Summer Holiday"..Travel/Seaside/camping.

I had a lot of fun create my background for this scene!

Poppystamp Dies I used for the main image.

I cut away the crosses as I just wanted to use the frame and bottom.

I have torn copy paper to create a wavy edge..the sun rays I used the stencil from the crosses die, gold mouse or any gold coloured product can be used., then using my torn paper I random inked to create waves and sky.

Next I adhered the Poppystamp 3 crosses outline, I coloured the bottom in yellow (for sand.

gave more depth with my inks for this smaller rectangle.

I have trimmed the outer edge away.

I mattered my frame onto a tent style card (top opener)..boats and lighthouse I coloured with pro markers, lighthouse I used glossy accents for shine.Poppystamps Doodle "Happy Valentine Day, just used Happy day!.. Flags are Memory Box..Banner Parade (Open Studio) finished with very old buttons from my stash..

Had fun making something different for a change.lol

Thank you for stopping by and hope you`ll join us over on the challenge blog. Pam x.

Greenhouse Pottered Plants.
by Pam Simpson

Hello everyone Pam here today..another Male/female card today.

Card with an acetate window..I must confess I make my cards up as I go along..Had an idea for this card .. I wanted to use  Acetate as a window with Poppystamp "Green house Potted Plants Sidekick frame and stencil set. also I wanted a large card, in the UK we tend to make larger cards than you ladies in the US..Sorry before I start as this tutorial is picture heavy!!!

I have used UK size A3 card as I wanted a large card using this die set.. 12"x 8" you can use A4 card, but you`ll need to join together on the wrong side, or you`ll see the join inside your card.

Inside view after cutting in my A4 die cutting machine.

Front view.

This is how the card looks and a piece of Acetate 6"x 8".

You will need 2 cut and coloured up.

Place one as shown in the open window, of your folded card..apply wet (pva) glue on the wrong side.

Finished..should look like mine adhered to the back of your card.

You will need strong doubled sided red tape, to hold your acetate in place, put along the lines shown... remove the backing  to the tape and leave your acetate as is shown in the picture, then carefully fold front of your card on top..

Adhere using strong double sided your second coloured Green house die cut..to the front opening as shown and this will be lined up perfect to the back one.  Finished ready to decorate your card front as you wish.

Sentiment has been added to the inside of the card.I double stamped Wishes and die cut the Best. Foliage and Birds came from the Greenhouse set..Swaying Birch tree and Whittle Cat .. Another take on this card design..decorate the inside as an outside scene  ..up to you but hope you`ll have ago. this card has no dimension! so flat for posting .

Warmest Wishes.
by Pam Simpson

Hello everyone Pam here today.. Sharing a card I think would do for male or female, lots of men like plants! don`t  you think, how many men are not into sports, but love gardening!.

I have used Poppystamp dies "Spring Pots Shelves" as the main focal point, with Poppystamp Large Window Cutout makes them sit on the page and adds interest, another die I like to use for many occasions is a window, you can make it looking in or out.

This is how I cut the window and frame.

Reverse of the above.

I left the die cut as shown and coloured up my pots and flowers.

how they look, when card waste removed.

Piece of heavy weight Velum, coloured with a pale blue marker. this is for the window.

stamped  black dots.

card ready for the decoration..5"x 6.1/2" ..I used foam tape to the reverse on the window panel.

Double sided foam tape on the flower pots, these have had a bit of shape to them, as I did`nt want flat pots (can you see a bit of curve).. I used the same colour blue to shadow the word "Wishes" as for velum.

When the card was finished I have used Ranger "Glossy Accents" on my pots.

Gives a lovely glazed look to the po, you`d think they were ceramic.

Hope you like this card and will have a go at one yourself.

Blue Poppy..
by Pam Simpson

Hello everyone, just love this Poppystamp  "Garden Poppy Sidekick Frame & Stencil". makes a quick card.

I started by cutting 2 of these frames in white card, as I wanted to layer them up, so I could have some depth to the poppies...Rather than our UK traditional red poppies , I love the blue ones.

I only used to markers to colour ..one blue and green.

I used a ball tool on the backside of the Poppies, this create`s a nice curve..

Do the same to the white, then I used thin strips of foam tape around the outer edge, this is to layer them together..in between the Poppy heads I used Pinflaire glue gel..

I have adhered my layers as shown, the blue layer is one coloured with the marker on the outer edge.

Poppystamps lovely sentiment stamp, "Springtime Greetings" used Brillance blue ink pad. added a couple of cute Whittle Birds and cream bow..used a permanent black marker to add tiny dots..

Finished card 5.1/2"x 7"..

Sending Wishes.

Hello everyone, Pam here today! have you seen these beautiful  Stamp Designs from Poppystamp Spring Release, it measures 5.1/2"x 5.1/2"..

This is how I created this topper 4"x 5.1/2" .

1 stamping

1/ Using my stamping press and clear versamark ink..2/  cover the inked image with white opaque embossing power.

2 stamping

3/  Using self closing tweezers (You need Tweezers to hold your card! or you`ll get burnt fingers) I have sprinkled Chunky embossing powders the stamped/white embossing powder.

4/  Hold the card with the tweezers and heat from Underneath!!! this way your chunky powder does not blow of! melts into the card.

3 stamping

5/   I inked this with two blue distress inks...
6/    spray with water ..

4 die cutting

7/  I die cut together these Poppystamps Double Stitched Rectangle frames.. 8/   as they cut you will get 3 frames to use.

5 stamping

9/  These are the frames I am using around my stamped butterflies.  10/  Distress ink to ad shading to each butterfly.

My topper ready for the card..Wish you could see all the sparkly texture with these chunky powders.. can you see how I used the frames.

Main card size 5.1/2"x 7.1/2"  ...mats are smaller blue has been coloured with distress ink and white mat.. wrap ribbon around this and adhere to the main card.

Luscious Script "Sending" cut from of cut of butterflies, placed onto a black shadow. stamped "Wishes" from the same stamp collection.

Poppystamp Hampstead Butterfly Stem for leaf decoration and tiny butterflies..Ribbon and gems to finish.

Hope this shows you, just because my stamp was square, you can use to suit whatever card you wish.
