Sending Christmas Cheer
by Nancy Penir

Hi there and welcome to Poppystamps! My card for you features a new favorite Poppystamps die, Cottage Window. A timeless die set, it can be used any time of year. Thought I'd share a card I made into a Christmas window, already mailed and into it's new home. Now, I love to creat scenes. I get an idea and look for a way to bring that idea to life!

Cottage Window has 4 main elements. I gave it a shadow by backing it with a darker card stock.

Through the window you can see the home's Christmas tree. Here's how I made the tree.

These trees are too small for what I was going for, so I simply created a larger image from all the small trees.

Here they are die cut from 2 green card stocks, one light green the other dark, and detached from the die cut base.

Once assembled, I added Nuvo drops to simulate ornaments. (I also added a bit of glitter too.)

Outside, is another grouping of florals, this time from the bottom of the Festive Noel die.

Once you have an idea for a card front, look through your dies and use what you need from them to create your  own design and scene.

Above all, have fun!

Merriest of Christmases and Have a wonderfully creative New Year! Cheers!

A Very Warm Christmas
by Nancy Penir

Happy Holidays Poppy Peeps! I have a card for you today using some of the newest released dies, and a fun way to create just the right sized mantle garland for the new Whittle Fireplace.

I left all my Whittle die cuts white, and assembled the scene onto one of the new holiday papers included in the Dashing Holiday set. Love the bright crisp white against the holiday red print. But I wanted a holiday look to my mantle. Here's how I created my garland...

Poppy's Leafy Wreath die! It cuts out just the right size to assemble a garland for my mangle. I cut the die out of 3 shades of green, before adding tiny clear rhinestones to simulate holiday lights.

Here's a closeup of the garland. The mirror is the inner frame of a die set called Deco Cecil Frame. I cut the center from silver mirror card stock.

The stocking with mouse is popped up with foam.

I just love the Leafy Ornament Frame to round out my Christmas scene, and simply cut the ornament from the frame. Those darling corners are just the right touch of folksy glam to my Whittle Fireplace.

Have a wonderful week, and hope you enjoy this most blessed season!

Snow Speckle Washi Card
by Nancy Penir

Happy Holidays to you! Nancy here, and I'm bringing you a card made with the new Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape Poppystamps has available in the store.

I've used several of the new dies out this season, plus Mod Poinsettias. And here's a hint on a way to use the wide Washi.

I covered a red card stock panel with the Washi, and die cut 3 smallest poinsettias. The width makes it easy to cover a panel 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The touch of softened red with the white dots went nicely with the pastel card. I added white die cut poinsettias, sponged inked with the same aqua behind my Bethlehem scene. The sentiment, O Holy Night was cut down a bit to fit on the bottom.

Hope you enjoyed today's holiday post, and hope your holiday cards are well on their way to being done!

Have a wonderful, Happy, Crafty Holiday!

Holiday Blog Blitz: Merry Christmas
By Nancy Penir

Hi everyone and welcome to Poppystamps' Holiday Blog Blitz. I'm featuring the new Christmas Flourish. Let's have a closer look at this beautiful die.

Gorgeous isn't it? And do you notice anything else? The holiday paper, maybe? Yup. A beautiful book of double sided papers available this holiday season too! Let's take a look at a fun way to make a couple of holiday cards with this new die.

I cut the Merry Christmas die out several times with glitter paper. This is an intricate die so I used my shim to get a precise cut. Also I knew I'd be backing the die with a darker shadow and cut it out with black Cardstock as well.

A white background circle was shaded a bit with ink using a blender brush.

The green Christmas die cut just popped against one of the new papers included in the Holiday Paper pack.

Couldn't resist adding the grosgrain ribbon die behind the sentiment on this card.

Would you like to win this beautiful new Christmas Flourish die? Here's how.

Challenge Reminder: Enchanted
by Nancy Penir

Hello and Happy Halloween! I have a challenge reminder for you, one I hope will be enchanting. Our challenge this month has a Halloween theme, but instead of spooky or scary, how about Enchanted?

The beautiful Pumpkin Patch Sidekick Frame and Stencil was my starting point. I watercolored the whole Frame, pumpkins and leaves with my metallics.

They go on like watercolors, but the mica in the paint gives a glow to your images.

The frame and enchanting fairies were glued onto a sponged inked base. Then a bit of Nuvo Glimmer Moonstone added to the fairies. How would you create an enchanting Halloween card? We'd love to see!

There's a 20.00 gift card for the winner of our challenge, that runs through the 29th.

Hope you have a great and creative week!

Christmas Bells
by Nancy Penir

Hi Poppy Friends! Nancy here, and I have a card for you using a few of Poppy's new dies. A list of what I used is at the end of the post.

Beautiful dies are really a wow factor when composing a card. And really are very easy and quick.

After I die cut the bells, I colored them with Metallic paints. Leaving the centers of the bells unpainted is a way to give the images  round depth and perspective.

A few sequins and a gold embossed sentiment and this card is done!

Hope your holiday cards are moving along. This time of year seems to sneak up and any tips for simplifying is helpful, don't you think? And die cuts really are a fabulous way to create beautiful cards!

Have a great crafty weekend!

Hello Poppy Friends! Thought I'd bring you some Halloween inspiration from the new release. Hope you're well on your way with your Halloween cards. This one goes to a special grandson in the Marines. He completed basic training and is currently in the infantry. I'm so proud of this young man, and sending him cards brings me joy, and I hope he gets a big smile from them!

A shaker is always fun to receive, and is really very easy. Here's how I did this one.

To create my spooky night sky, I covered my A2 sized card with Oxide Inks.

I'm sure you all know what happens when water hits the oxide inks. Just be sure to let it dry before the next step.

DSC_0026 2

I used my metallic watercolor paints to flick drops of copper onto the panel.

I repeated the entire technique with a panel of yellow, orange and pink oxide inks. I die cut Surprise Skeleton 3 times. (Note: the die was cut 3 times before inking and adding droplets. I masked the 3 circles and added my sentiment, first stamped in black, then clear versa mark) The sequin mix will be confined to the 3 windows.

Surprise Skeleton is just too cute to be scary, don't you think? Hope you have a crafty week ahead, always the best kind!

Blog Blitz: Christmas/Holiday
by Nancy Penir

Hi there Poppy fans! The Blog Blitz continues with Christmas/Holiday dies. I'd like to present Mistletoe Side Strips and Stencil.

Noel says it all on the front of a card, doesn't it? And the drama of shimmer black Cardstock and metallic watercolors dress up a card front fit for the holidays! The beauty of Poppy's Side strip die lets you put the mistletoe anywhere your creative juices take you.

Some time back I purchased a set of Metallic watercolors by Prima. They're a mixture of color and mica and shine when added to any color cardstock.

Mine is black. You can see how vibrant the leaves get when color is applied. And this die imprints the leaves' veins when cut.

I added spots of the blue to my leaves, and when dry, the veins of the embossed leaves pop! My sentiment, Festive Noel die was cut from shimmer cardstock too. First, in  black, and watercolored with copper metallic. Then cut with yellow/gold, and finally in red shimmer. This photo show how I added double sided tape to the back of my diecut before inserting the letters and berries.

Here's a closeup of the die cuts painted, and Nuvo Crystal Drops added. The background insert is loosely watercolored with gold and lavender metallic paint, and I did pop up both sides of the black cardstock with foam.

I masked my letters before splattering white metallic paint. The whole card really shimmers irl!

Holiday Blog Blitz: Hello Autumn
by Nancy Penir

It's Halloween/Fall Release time at Poppystamps, and I'm showcasing the beautiful Autumn Leaves Sidekick Frame and Stencil. This sidekick frame can give your seasonal cards instant 'oohs and aahs'. It's so easy to add my sentiment to the framed area. And the stencil allows for color placement on the leaves.

Do you live in a place where the seasons stage a show of color? Time to bring out the sweaters. And to reflect the season on our cards too. Here's what I did to my card.

I started by inking my watercolor Cardstock with Distress Oxide Inks: Wild Honey, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves.

Then sprayed the inked panel with water droplets. And then added a coppery spray and white to the inked panel, letting each layer dry before adding the next. If you ink a larger panel you can cut selectively to your A2 sized card.

With the same inks I used on the watercolor panel, I carefully applied ink to just the edges of the leaves. Remember to tape down your stencil. It really helps to keep the ink where you want it.

There are a couple of new Autumn Leaf die sets new this release that I love with the Sidekick frame. I cut them first in vellum then in white cardstock. After die cutting them, I added a bit of Rose Gold Embossing Powder to the edges of the vellum die cuts. I glued only the middle of the leaf to the white die cut base, and bent up the edges as if fluttering in the breeze.

Autumn is the perfect time to play with our embossing powders and sequins, isn't it? It's time to add the bling!

Would you like to win the Autumn Leaves Sidekick Frame and Stencil? All you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post. The Blog Blitz is 20 days of  inspiration. Check back each day to see how the designers use the new holiday stamps and dies. First for Halloween/Fall and then for Christmas/Winter. Lots to see, and you could win! And, now there's a second chance to win. Visit our instagram, like, and tag a friend. You and a friend could win! Remember, comment for a chance to win. Last day to comment is Sept. 23. Winners will be announced on the 26th, so check back to see you're one of the winners!
