Easter Card with Rinea Foil
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0028

Greetings Poppy friends! And welcome to the Poppystamps blog, where we are partnering with Rinea - the maker of beautiful metallics and foiled papers. I've created an Easter Card to show you how beautifully they work with Poppystamps dies!

DSC_0025_wm

Many of the foiled papers are double sided, emboss like a dream, and when used with Ghost Ink (another product they sell), showcase embossed images. Read on for all the fun...

DSC_0019

Now because I used a delicate image die, I glued my sheet of pink Rinea foil to a piece of Cardstock before die cutting.

DSC_0023

With a small finger sponge, I tapped on the ghost ink pad, then lightly rubbed on just the image I wanted color removed. You can see on the flowers on the right, wherever the sponge was applied, the color is lifted. So cool, isn't it?

DSC_0018

I added foam to the back for depth.

DSC_0017

You'll notice my branch is on the right of the card before I added the bunny, which will face the branch.

DSC_0016

I glued several strips of foil to Cardstock and die cut some eggs from each color.

DSC_0026

The basket is also cut from foil paper, which was first die cut, and again worked with the ghost ink.

DSC_0032

Ghost ink was lightly rubbed on the posies on the flower spray, before I added the Fairy sugar centers.

DSC_0037_wm

Foiled papers add glam to your design like no other! Hope you're as sold on these as I am. And hope you enjoyed a look at how easy and fun they are to use.

Speaking of hope... I do hope you're all doing well, fully stocked in toilet paper and wipes, (wink wink) and especially chocolate!  Strange times, aren't they. Stay healthy friends!

Blog Blitz Spring Giveaway
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0027 2

Hello, my Poppy friends! How are you all doing? Staying well and safe I pray! Nancy here, and bringing some joy your way with our Spring Blog Blitz and giveaway! I'm showcasing a new die called, Adriana Tall Curved Border. Let's take a look...

DSC_0024

This lovely border die is as long as your A2 card, and can be used as an edge, but I'm going to show you something a bit different. I die cut it twice, and turned the pieces toward each other. You'll notice I cut the bottom leaves off the two die cuts. Read on to see why.

DSC_0014_wm

I gave my card the look of an arbor above a fence. Keeping with the spring theme, I kept the colors soft and pastel. And the bottom leaves just reach the bottom of the fence. The sentiment in the center is smoky blue rather than black, adding to the softness.

DSC_0025

The leaves are first wet with my paintbrush before adding color. I love how deeply impressed the leaves are, allowing the color to puddle a bit in the crevices.

DSC_0042_wm

Detailing my card with a few more sprigs, some twine and some of the new glitter glue, and my cheery spring card is ready to send!

March Challenge Reminder: Floral Fantasy
By Nancy Penir

DSC_0087

It's a Floral Fantasy this month for the Poppystamps Challenge! Hi! Are you playing along this month with our challenge? Did someone say, 'floral?' I love a card with flowers. It just says happy. Here's my inspiration card for you.

6a01157003623c970c025d9b365dc3200c

DSC_0006_wm

I used a Sidekick Frame as my starting point, cutting it from a deep green shimmer card stock.

DSC_0078

Don't know if you're aware, but MemoryBox has washi tape! and wow! Look at that Spring pattern goodness.

This spool is 4 1/2" wide, and covers the entire face of your A2 card, and then some.

DSC_0082

Another new product in the store is watercolor paper, generously sized at 4.5 x 5.75. I was anxious to give this product a try. LOVE it! It moves the paint around with ease, and cuts perfect images.

DSC_0083

I added a floral corner from the painted pieces, staying with the colors in the washi.

DSC_0084

I'll add a greeting when I want to use the card for an occasion. One last note, I added drops of the new glitter fairy sugar to some of the flower centers. Hope you're playing along. We love seeing you're creations. Poppystamps has so many gorgeous florals to choose from. Happy Crafting!

Easter Basket
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0043

Hi! Welcome to a post featuring a spring card full of pastel greetings!

DSC_0029

Poppystamps' Sidekick Frames are a favorite choice for quick and easy 'pow'. Wanted to get my Easter stash going, and die cut the Decorated Egg frame from white. So many ways to go from white with this die. One is to use enclosed stencil to color the eggs. Another is to simply cut colored eggs from the Folk Decorated Eggs die set. I started with the new 6 x 6 double sided paper from Memory Box. Once cut, it left me with the opposites of each color. I glued down both so it would be ready for another card.

DSC_0034_wm

The colored eggs, the basket of goodies... and a glitter easter greeting... and done!

DSC_0044

A closeup of the basket. Don't you just love the emboss the die cutting reveals? The charm of each detailed egg, basket, and even the grosgrain bow are defined.

DSC_0042

Hope you're inspired to use the lovely Sidekick frames with the new dies in the store now. And hope the season is bringing sunshine your way!

Happy Crafting!

Thinking of You
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0019

Are you feeling a bit of Spring in the air? We had our first 70 degrees, and it was off with the sweater and on with flip flops! ~for the day...

DSC_0014_wm

Hi there! Nancy here, and I have a card that I hope will bring you some spring. If you look closely at my bg,

I used one of the new embossing folders from Memory Box. I just adore how it gives my card elegance and

allows me to 'dress up' my layers.

DSC_0002

After running my card stock through the machine, I inked it with Distress Oxide. Heavy on the bottom, fading to light on the top. I reversed the process with my frames.

DSC_0005

Poppystamps is now carrying watercolor card stock, which I was excited to try. Let me tell you, you're going to love the quality and paint-a-bility of this new product! It's the perfect thickness and texture. I die cut the flowers from watercolor paper and then cut a few more branches, both to paint and leave white.

DSC_0016

The indentations of the die cut allow paint to settle in the crevices, which is just what I wanted.

A touch of embossing for the sentiment with Poppy's Valentine Fun flourish, and a bit of sparkle with another new product, Fairy Sugar, for the flower centers.

DSC_0019

Fairy Sugar... perfect name for the new glitter glue... in so many bright happy colors! I used Lemon Meringue for the centers of my blossoms. You're going to love the dimension and sparkle it gives.

Hope you have a great week of crafting! It definitely brings out the sunshine!

Sending XOXO
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0028

Hi and welcome to a Valentine post! I have a card for you that's a shaker, made with Poppy's fabulous dies and features a stencil I made. Let me show you how.

DSC_0013

I wanted a simple background for my Meadowblossom Frame, and decided to make my own using Poppy's Confetti Heart Plate. It's really easy with a few tricks I've learned using different methods. Here's what I like best. Die cut your stencil with a nice sturdy vellum. Spray the back with Pixie light tack reposition adhesive spray (Amazon). and allow it to dry a minute or two. It will keep your stencil from moving during inking.

DSC_0014

I used Distress Oxide Inks, but used different amounts and pressure when applying the ink. I wanted a rather ombre effect.

DSC_0015

I wanted the heart and frame from the Meadowblossom frame, but not all the posies, as I wanted the background to show. I simply snipped all but the bottom corner from the frame and heart. I did this 5 times.

One die was glued down to my heart stenciled background.

DSC_0016 2

To make the perfect sized acetate for my shaker, I used the heart from the middle of the Meadowblossom frame, tracing onto the paper, and cutting a 1/8"  wider than the line. The heart acetate piece is glued to one of the 5 heart frames that will be on the top. The rest are all glued to the 1st piece.

DSC_0024_wm

The finished shaker. I added red Nuvo drops to the flower centers, and the red glitter hearts are outtakes from another valentine I did with Banded Hearts die plate.

DSC_0026_wm

DSC_0046

Since I had the stencil, I decorated the flap of an envelope.

How are you coming with your valentines? Hope you got a little bit of inspiration today. And hope you picked up a few of the fabulous new dies during the release! Happy Crafting!

Valentine Tag Cards
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0122_wm

Valentine Poppy Greetings friends! I have a post full of Love today, using some of the latest Poppystamps release. Better have a cuppa with you, I just couldn't stop once I got started! Come take a look.

DSC_0074

First, created my pattern Cardstock with Memory Box's new Drifting Hearts Stencil. A few with Distress Ink,

and a few with embossing paste.

DSC_0078

To add color, I mixed a few drops of re-inker to my Mat Gel Medium. Also I lightly sprayed the back of the stencil with Pixie Spray. It's slightly sticky and holds the stencil in place and prevents the gel from spreading beyond the holes.

DSC_0082

When the mat gel was dry, I cut out my tags. The Stitched Tunnel Tags has several sizes to choose from. I used the largest and also the 3rd largest. This is a photo of all the pieces I used on my 4 tags.

DSC_0097_wm

The 3 layers of tags aren't glued together, just free to move. this one has some Valentine Washi on the bottom.

DSC_0094_wm

All tags have a 3rd piece of white card stock cut from the largest tag die, so I can write my message as I would

inside a card.

DSC_0098_wm

The red tag on this one is stamped with one of the images from Valentine's Fun, one of Poppy's new stamp sets.

DSC_0102_wm

This tag was stamped with Poppy's Picnic Plaid.

DSC_0103_wm

All have matching envelopes and glitter heart seals. To create the address label, I die cut smaller tag, turned it, and cut the bottom again for a mask, then stenciled on the hearts. Also added a bit of red shadow around the mask. I ran the die cut heart through my Xyron sticker maker, creating a seal for the back flap.

The tag/card measures 3 x 5 1/4" and fits perfectly in an A2 envelope.

Hope you're inspired to try a tag/card. It's the perfect Valentine for those special people in your life!

A Challenge Reminder: Use a Heart
By Nancy Penir

DSC_0065

Hi and welcome to a reminder that there's a challenge going on the Poppystamps Blog: use a heart in your project. Did you enjoy the Blitz? So many wonderful new dies in the Valentine Collection. And wonderful ideas from our design team. Hope you're among the winners!

DSC_0067_wm

The new Floral Lace Heart Split Border was my starting point for my card. I chose glitter paper in black and white for drama, with a bit of red for added impact. the die itself cuts the beautiful lacy heart, like butter, I might add, and the image is placed over the black. Easy Breezy!

DSC_0070

I cut my Love Flourish die in red glitter paper, backed it in silver, and glued it to the front. I punched the lacy heart up by adding red rhinestones to the center of the little florals.

DSC_0068

I just love getting the most from my dies by using some of the incredible papers on the market! I think someone special will instantly know they are loved when they get this card!

Hope you're playing along with the challenge. We all love seeing what you create!

Blog Blitz Valentine
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0013 2

Welcome! Poppystamps begins the New Year with a Blog Blitz and a chance for you to win the beautiful new dies in the 2020 Valentine collection! Come take a look at the new Meadowblossom Frame and Stencil.

DSC_0012_wm

The beautiful etched heart and frame die cut with perfectly wonderful detail. And Poppy includes the stencil which allows you to color the flowers. Take a look at how I made my card.

DSC_0081

Using 2 Distress Ink colors, I loosely applied ink to my card front.

DSC_0082

You can't see the die cut frame, but I positioned it on my card front, then inserted the heart into the frame and lightly penciled around it. This is where my sentiment will go.

DSC_0083

New to Poppy's Valentine release is this sentiment set called, Valentine's Fun. Hugs and Kisses has the sweetest curly flourish and fits perfectly within the heart.

DSC_0084

DSC_0088

After stenciling and inking my flowers, I added some detail with these copic colors.

DSC_0014

I also added a small bouquet at the top of the heart, and some Nuvo drops to the flower centers.
