Happy 4th by Nancy Penir

DSC_0016

It's time to celebrate all things red, white and blue, and I have an all die cut card for you today.

Hi folks and welcome to summer! 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. Don't know about you, but we decorate, bake, barbecue, and have a block party every year to celebrate!

My card uses some  die cuts in combination, which I was happy to know  fit together perfectly. The background, for instance, is the Double Diamond Lattice Plate, cut from red and blue cardstock, and Lattice Plate, cut from white, that fits right in there for my red, white and blue background!

I chose a cherry pie for the center piece of my card, and added steam, as though it had just come from the oven.

The '4' is my invention, assembled from a 1/4" strip of blue cardstock. I inked a white strip down the middle and backed it with white cardstock.

Hope you have plans to celebrate our country's birth, and hope it's full of all the best eats of the summer!

Happy 4th, friends!

Cherish every Kindness
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0078

Greetings Poppy friends! Nancy here, and I'm sharing a card today with several techniques, made simple with Poppystamps products.

DSC_0077

I used the new Deco Diamond Stencil Set for a background, and deepened my inking around the perimeter, while keeping the center light. I knew I wanted to add a stamped sentiment, and wanted the words to really shine. I loved the thought of kindness being like a fine flower, and that sweet thought needed to take center stage!

DSC_0081_wm

As for the flowers to frame the sentiment, Petite Blooms, I thought would be the perfect choice. I gave the petals a bit of dimension with a foam board and sculpting tool, inked only the centers, and stacked them for fullness. Choosing a darker shade for the leaves really hi-lighted those white petals!

There are so many new flowers to create with in the Poppystamp store, you should check them out!

Take care friends, and hope you're enjoying a flower-full spring!

2023-06PSC#105 Just Add Foil!  This month we're asking you to add a little foil bling to your designs.  Hot foil dies are awfully popular now, but there are still lots of other ways to add foil glamor to your design.  You can die cut foil cardstock, use patterned paper that already has foil applied, adhesive applied foil and even pieces of gold flake that look like foil.

Projects can be for any occasion, and you're not limited to making cards.  We welcome home décor, page layouts, tags and everything in between!  It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps die on your project!  You must use a Poppystamps product to be eligible to win!

Need a little inspiration?  Here are some samples from our design team.  Want a closer look?   No worries.. we'll be featuring these projects on Wednesdays throughout the month, so you can see how each project was created.

I live in the Midwest with my amazing husband, two awesome college age children, and also two of the most adorable dogs you have ever seen, and my daughter’s cat - I called her Miss Kitty. I work as a communications specialist. I have always been a creative being, and I started making cards when my kids were very young and I couldn’t just run out to the card store every time I needed a card. I fell madly in love with cardmaking!  When I’m not working or creating, I enjoy making special treats for people (like caramels or cookies) going to the movies, and going on family hikes!  I love to read and crochet too! I am so thrilled to be a guest designer at Poppystamps!!!

Dreamy, Easy Watercolor Background
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0072

Hello and hoping it's a beautiful spring day in your neck of the woods! Nancy, here, and I'm sharing a card with a simple watercolor background that never misses!

DSC_0067 2

Watercolor paper or cardstock works best for this technique, and allows color to  flow. Use 1 or 2 colors, analogous to each other, (otherwise you're liable to end up with mud!), and let the paint do it's thing.

DSC_0070

I also watercolored the Leafy Vine Corner, one of my favs from the latest Poppystamp release.

DSC_0067_wm

I ended up adding a few droplets of blue and white, then added my sentiment.

Hope you enjoyed today's post, and try this easy way to create  a background for your cards.

Again, enjoy the beautiful season!

Thank You Bouquet
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0066 2

Hi and welcome! I'm on the blog today with a thank you card. Do you have someone special you want to thank? Poppystamps has the most amazing dies to create that very special card for that very special person in your life.

DSC_0065_wm

I recently celebrated a birthday and my daughter gifted me 2 Disneyland rose bushes! She knows flowers are mommy's passion!

DSC_0066

To begin I gathered all my floral elements and background die.

DSC_0067

Truly the fun begins as you put together the bouquet, placing each hand crafted flower right where you want it.

DSC_0080

I gave my tiny flowers and petals of larger ones dimension  with a foam mat and ball head tool. Love this look, but you might have to make your own envelope to allow for card thickness.

DSC_0069 2

A special thank you for a special daughter. Hope your day is filled with beauty and joy!
