Hi everyone! It's crunch time at the Penir household. Plenty of goings on and shopping and wrapping, and cards are on their way. One thing I never have enough of is tags! So I put together some simple but festive tags for you today using the new Deco Star Frame.

DSC_0013

I gathered all my supplies, especially some glitter paper and gold foil paper. I picked the Pinpoint Main Street Tags set and found it was the perfect size for my Deco Frame.

DSC_0023

I stuck to jewel tones on black glitter paper, but you could use anything glittery, also adding a second tag with an embossed sentiment in gold. If you keep scrolling down, you'll see I didn't waste a cut! I used most every die cut in different color combos.

DSC_0015_wm

3 tags with left over frames in blue, red & green. This time dressed up with jewels and bells!

DSC_0016

One last tag with the white glitter frame on a bright pink glitter card stock.

DSC_0017_wm

And a last wish for all of you, Merry Christmas from me, and Poppystamps!

It's That Time of Year
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0047

Hi and Happy Holidays everyone! Nancy here today with a card made some of the new dies from Poppy.

DSC_0042

I'm absolutely in love with the new Whittles, and LOVE how they all work together.

DSC_0033

I created my own textured background by using the smaller Whittle Wood Frame die, and cutting it several times from stamping masking paper. (You can find it on Amazon, I used Inkadinkado.)

DSC_0038
The masking paper allows for effortless inking with a sponge tool. I then added some white opaque droplets onto my card front. When all was dry, I cut out a window for my Whittle Rudolph, inking it around the edges in light blue. My frame is cut several times and inked as well.

DSC_0044

If you look closely at Rudolph, you can see that I inked him a bit around the edges to give him depth, and lightened his mane with a white pencil. Can't forget to mention the cute little red rhinestone nose!

Hope you're inspired to try something new, (if this is new to you), with your backgrounds and dies.

Happy Crafting!

For Unto Us

DSC_0006

Greetings! Nancy here, with a super simple Christmas card. As you know, Poppy's dies pack a big wallop, and togetheer with a Poppy stencil... well, just look.

DSC_0001

Using just the stencil from Nativity Scene Sidekick Frame and Stencil, I washi taped down the stencil and gave it some inking.

DSC_0002

I used dark blue shimmer cardstock to cut my Simple Bethlehem Stitched Frame die. DSC_0005

Assembly was easy breezy, and I framed the finished scene with a sentiment, and the largest frame from Double Stitch Rectangle Frame.

DSC_0009

Hope this gives you some ideas to add to your card stash. Happy Crafting!

Sending Christmas Cheer
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0023

Hi Poppy Friends! It's countdown 'till Christmas card' sending, and I'm bringing some inspiration with Poppystamps Deco Tree Frame, a charming die with many fun possibilities.

DSC_0003

I love to watercolor, and thought of a way to incorporate this technique with the Deco frame. First I die impressed the image onto watercolor cardstock. Then with Artesa pens colored the tree, and negative spaces.

DSC_0018

The pens were one of those impulse buys, but let me tell you... I LOVE them! Rich colors that blend seamlessly, and allow for first laying down a water wash, which is what I did here.

DSC_0005

Cut my die from gold foil paper and glued it over another die cut, giving the frame body and dimension.

DSC_0024

Stamping on watercolor cardstock doesn't always give crisp clear images, so I decided to use acetate. Did you know you can emboss on acetate? Just be sure to use Heat Resistant Acetate.

DSC_0007

I bought mine on Amazon. Here's a shot of the acetate I used along with the sentiment from Deco Celebrate Christmas.

DSC_0021

I used very traditional colors with my watercolor, and the gold foil really adds to the richness of the Deco style.

Hope you're moving right along with your Christmas card making. Stay tuned for more inspiration from the Poppystamps blog!

Happy Halloween
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0015

Happy Halloween Poppy Peeps! Nancy here, and I'm bringing Halloween greetings to you on the last day of October.

That's right, it's holiday rush beginning tomorrow. So for today, what's better than one Halloween pumpkin? 3 Halloween pumpkins!

DSC_0002

I began by giving 2 A2 sized watercolor cardstock a wash with purple and lime green. Nothing fancy here. Just wet the cardstock and apply color. If you want to speed drying time up a bit, use your heat gun.

DSC_0003

When dry, I marked the half way point of my cardstock, and cut my pumpkin window once. I knew I was going to have a trio of pumpkin windows on my card front. Measuring first saves a lot of grief!

I die cut the image again in the top left corner, and a third time on the bottom right corner. Then watercolored the pumpkin orange. Watercoloring takes a bit of time, applying paint, letting it dry, and going over those spots you want darker.

DSC_0016 2

I covered my pumpkins before adding the splatters of paint to the card, then when dry, foam taped the top card for dimension.

DSC_0018

Here's a closeup of how I watercolored one of the pumpkins

DSC_0017

Notice how I followed the stitching lines of the pumpkin, and applied my color darker on the lines and on the bottom.

I glossy A-ed the center pumpkin and added a stem (product listed below).

Too late to give this card away, but it'll keep till next year!

Have a Happy safe Halloween!

Challenge Reminder Halloween Treats
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0011

Hello, my Poppy friends! Nancy here, with a reminder that Poppy has a challenge going on, with a chance for you to win a gc to the Poppystamps store!

I made a trio of tagged candy bags for the grandkids, and used the Halloween Costume Cats stamp and die set.

DSC_0016

All 3 tags were die cut from black cardstock, decorated, with a bright contrasting tag behind.

Candy Bag 1 features the sweet pair of kittens in a pumpkin.

DSC_0011

Time to get out the stash of Halloween themed ribbon and washi and enjoy decorating cards and tags.

The tag is connected to my bag of treats with a clothespin thats been 'washied' with trick or treat tape. 3 ribbons form my simple junk bow.

DSC_0012

My treat bags are simple acetate bags that show off the contents.

DSC_0034

I did my tags and bags assembly line, cutting and coloring everything first, then assembling my cats on the black tags cut with Poppy's Leafy wreath die. Don't you love the colorful window of leaves?

DSC_0031

Leaves and Scary things is your challenge. Can't wait to see what you create! Play all month!

Happy happy Fall, and Happy Halloween!

Blog Blitz! Holiday Happenings
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0028 2

Hi Poppy Peeps! Welcome to the 'Holiday Happenings' 2018 Blog Blitz! Lots of new dies, and some stamps and matching dies too! I'm showing you a new die called Deco Cecil Frame, and I've made a set of tags with it, another new die called Forest Stag.

DSC_0004

The frame  is the perfect size for a tag, and I've used the 2nd largest Pinpoint Main Street Tags to create 10 holiday tags and a matching box. Will it be a gift? Maybe... but I have to say, I fell in love with how sharp the frame looks on a tag!

DSC_0008

I die cut all my pieces first so I could assemble them easily. The frame itself was cut twice for each tag, once in a gold glitter cardstock and again in pale blue shimmer cardstock.

DSC_0005

You can see how I first glued down the outside of the frame, then the shimmer blue inside, which allows for perfect fit, kinda like a puzzle.

DSC_0029 2

The stag die was cut with red glitter cardstock. I backed it with another die cut from red cardstock, which gave it more body.

I couldn't resist decorating the top of the tag with tinsel, a paper rose and some gold garden sprigs, an oldie from Poppystamps, no longer available, but maybe you have it?

DSC_0030 2

I had the reverse die cuts already done, so I cut 5 more tags, out of black this time, and added a white glitter stag.

DSC_0027

10 tags, with a matching box.

DSC_0021

Here's how I made the simple matching box:

DSC_0001

2 strips, cutting sizes listed, scored and glued, crosswise. This simple box holds 10 to 12 tags, and can be decorated any way you like.

DSC_0032

White on one side, black tag on the other.

This versatile frame die can be yours. Just leave a comment on my blog. I'd love to know what you think of it!

Comment every day during the blitz for a chance to win that day's featured die. The blitz runs from the 11th through the 21st, and the last day to comment is the 23rd. Winners announced on the 24th. Good luck!

Enjoy your day!

Heartfelt Christmas Joy
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0022

Hi! It's my turn to bring you some Poppystamps inspiration, and I have a Christmas card with some of the fun new holiday dies.

DSC_0010

There are 3 frame dies that fit perfectly together. Here's what I did with them.

DSC_0003

1st from watercolor cardstock, I cut all 3 frame die cuts.

DSC_0007

I used my Zig Clean Color Pens to color the images inside the frames, but not coloring the frames themselves. Wetting the images with water first allows the colors to blend and bleed into each other, which is the effect I was going for.

DSC_0014

Once dry, the 3 frames were glued together and added to my watercolored background, that was flicked with white and aqua paint.

DSC_0015

I added some sheer shimmer spray and a few rainstones. It is a holiday card after all, and the more shimmer the better!

DSC_0019

Enjoy the rest of your week. Hope it's full of crafty goodness!

Wishing You a Merry Christmas
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0032

Hi Poppy Friends! I have a fun card for you today. Have you ever made a gatefold card? Here's a how to using Poinsettia Delights.

DSC_0009

With a  5 1/2 x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock, you're going to score at 2", and 6 1/2". The 2 sides will fold into each other, forming a card that's a standard A2. Now you can decorate any way you like. The 2 outside 'gates' and the inside were my focals.

DSC_0011

I cut an oval (the center die cut from Pointed Oval Frames) and placed it in the center of the card, inking around it, before stamping my sentiment. I then stamped poinsettias around the sentiment, masking the flowers, so they'd look more natural.

DSC_0013

Turning the card over, I stamped the smaller poinsettia, masking it before stamping the branch.

DSC_0015

I knew I wanted a bright red band, so I kept my stamped images all monotone grey.

DSC_0022

The red band was cut 11 1/2 x by 1 1/2", scored at 2 1/2" x 4 1/2", before folding and glueing the ends together. Stamped diecut  was copic colored and some stickles added to the center.

Finished card fits nicely inside a A2 envelope.

DSC_0023

Hope this gave you an incentive to try a different fold when creating your cards. And hope your weekend's crafty!
