by Nancy Penir

DSC_0050

Hello! Nancy here, and I have a snowy scene to share with you today. Don't you love the holidays? And the excuse to bring out the glitter and shine?

Poppy's new release is full of holiday fun. Sweet little houses and trees, snowmen and wonderful word dies!

There are a few sets I used to create my winter scene. I've listed them below for you. Just a click takes you to the shop.

Spooky Barn
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0029

Hello! And welcome! It's Halloween time. Can you believe it? I'm featuring Poppy's Barn Die Set with a spooky theme, something I love to do with die sets, stretch their use with the seasons and holidays. Scroll down for pictures, fair warning, there's lots to see!

DSC_0052_wm

The base of the barn was cut with dark blue cardstock, from Memory Box's fabulous cardstock collection. The rest are bright Halloween colors, also from the MB Collections.

DSC_0049

The following photos are closeups of the areas with spooky characters. The web was white embossed onto vellum and fussy cut.

DSC_0015

I love to back my images with another die cut, for a shadow or a glow.

DSC_0025

The handmade A2 sized envelope is stamped and stenciled onto butcher paper.

Inside there's a Halloween greeting, and you can see the area where the barn Pop Up rests.

Hope you enjoyed today's post. And you're inspired to play with combining your dies more. All that I've used is listed below. Happy fall, and Happy Halloween!

Fall Thanks
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0028

Greetings friends! Nancy here, and I have a thank you slim line card today, just perfect for the season!

DSC_0019

Blended some Distress Oxides in warm fall tones, then spritzed them with water, and white paint. My slim panel is 3 1/2 x 8 1/2.

This was the perfect width to fit the Maple Symphony die, cut twice vertically.

DSC_0017

The dark lining adds drama to shadow my leaves.

DSC_0022 2_wm

The leaves were color reversed before gluing them down, a little off to allow the dark to show behind the leaves.

DSC_0027

I love double cutting my sentiments before adding to the card. A bit more work but worth it!

DSC_0022 2_wm

The finished card looks more dimensional, but is actually flat... very easy to mail!

I added a bit of Nuvo Glimmer Paste brushed onto each leaf.

DSC_0016

Just a very light application for a little wow.

Hope I was able to bring some fall inspiration your way today. Happy crafting!

Challenge Reminder: Wonderful Washi
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0022

Hello! It's time to remind you that there's a challenge going on... Wonderful Washi is the theme this month. 6a01157003623c970c026bdeed325c200c-320wiWant some inspiration?

DSC_0013 2_wm

Oh the wonders of  washi... so many ways to use it. I added the wide rose washi from Memory Box to a piece of white cardstock before cutting it with my die. I also fussy cut one of the rose bouquets and added it to the top corner.

DSC_0012

How do you like to use washi? Can't wait to see your cards and projects!

The rules are simple - just create a project following the theme, use at least one Poppystamps image or die, and link it up here.  The design we love best will receive our winner badge to proudly display on their blog, and one lucky random winner will receive a prize.  You don't have to have a blog to play.  You can link to any online gallery.   In fairness to other players, we reserve the right to remove entries that do not use at least one Poppystamps image.   We ask that you link a maximum of  3 entries to each challenge.   You are welcome to link your design to other challenges.  Grab our badge to post on your blog post or sidebar!

Welcome September!
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0020

A very grateful welcome to the month of September! And to all of you Poppy Peeps! Nancy here, and I have a very fall-ish card to start off the season of falling leaves, cooler weather, and our children returning to school! (Yay!)

DSC_0015_wm

So Very Thankful began it's life with Poppystamps' Autumn Leaves Sidekick Frame, one of my all time favs!

DSC_0025

Yep! You're seeing right, I started with white cardstock. Also die cut my image from colored foam.

DSC_0028

The sidekick frame comes with a stencil which allows careful and selective coloring. I used my sponge daubers and oxide inks.

DSC_0024

The foam die cut really gives the image a lift. I added Nuvo Glimmer paste over the top colored die cut. Also you can see a few shadow leaves stamped in the sentiment frame.

DSC_0016

Poppystamps has so many wonderful autumn dies and stamps in the shop. Hope you check out this sidekick frame and several others! Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!

2021-09

PSC#84 Wonderful Washi!   Washi tape is a decorative masking tape traditionally made of rice paper.  It comes in lots of different patterns and sizes for a host of creative ideas.  It's a great way to add a little color and interest to your designs and once you get started using it there's no going back!    Washi can be used to create a fun patterned background, you can stick it to paper and cut out the printed images or die cut your own.     The challenge is not limited to cards - we'd love to see your page layouts, home decor, tags, and mixed media.   It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!

Need a little inspiration?  Here are some samples from our design team.  Want a closer look?   No worries.. we'll be featuring these projects on Wednesdays throughout the month, so you can see how each project was created.

We're trying something new this month !  We've asked a guest designer to join us to share even more creative ways to use your dies.  Please welcome our very first guest, Tenia Nelson.  When the Wonderful Washi Challenge was announced I knew she was the perfect choice because I consider her the Washi Queen.  I don't think I have ever seen a creation from her that didn't include a bit of washi tape - I consider it her trademark!
