Happy Birthday
By Lisa Elton

Hello Poppy peeps! I celebrated my birthday recently and we had a new release in the shop that just happened to contain birthday items. A fun coincidence that turned into a card! Lets take a look at how it all came together.

I started with my favorite Penelope Pinpoint Frame cut from a minty green cardstock. This was layered onto a rustic ivory card base.

Using our new Brilliant Birthday Balloons dies, I cut them using some festive foiled paper from the Birthday Fun 6x6 paper pad. What's not to love about a big polka dot balloon!

The two smaller balloon dies come with a string die. I used a portion of one of those for my big balloon. These were all cut from gold glitter cardstock.

24 1231 003 copyI love our new Happy Birthday Streamer Script sentiment! Isn't it cute? I used more of the fun striped foiled paper and backed it with ivory cardstock.

The icing on the cake was the new Daisy Trio. All cut from ivory cardstock with the same glitter gold center that I used on the balloon strings.

Those glittery flower centers are on pop dots. They add just the right amount of pizazz to this festive card! My niece has a birthday next month, I think I'll tuck this in an envelope and send it off to her!

Take a minute to pop over to the shop for a look at our new products. There's a whole lot of cute happening there! Thanks for visiting!

Thank You
by Lisa Elton

Hello friends! With the holidays behind us, I thought it would be a good time to share a thank you card with you. We all need those, right? Let me show you the steps I took to make this sweet floral card. Here we go!

First up, I stenciled a soft pink background using the Criss Cross Heart stencil on a white panel.
I popped this onto an A2 aqua card base.
I wanted to create a wreath on the card front so I used one of the Scallop Pinpoint Rings as a base. Next, leaves were die cut and added at even intervals for balance.
My flowers (Nordic Flower Bunch ) were all die cut from white cardstock then colored with Copic markers. I did this because I wanted specific soft colors. They could also be cut using colored cardstock or even patterned paper. Some of the flowers and flower centers were popped up with tiny foam dots.
To bring a touch of January frost to the mix, I added in several platinum metallic leaves using the Nordic Stems die. Don't the look pretty? They really changed the look of this card!
A simple thank you sentiment, from the Memory Box Foil Greeting Tabs set, was my finishing touch. And there you have it! Thank you so very much for stopping by today. We love it when you do!

Dashing Through the Snow
By Lisa Elton

Hello and welcome! I have a festive holiday card to share today featuring the pretty Nordic Regal Deer set. Let me show you how it came together.
My background was created by layering hand cut snowy hills onto patterned paper cut with the Scandinavian Snowflake plate. I thought those evergreens were a nice pairing with the deer.
While the stickles I added to those snowy hills dried, I created the pair of deer. They were cut from kraft cardstock. I added a touch of shading to the buck to make him a little darker then colored his antlers and their hooves. If two this regal are going to dash through the snow, they have to do it in style! A matching pair of burgundy and gold sweaters was just what they needed!
A pretty chipboard sentiment rectangle (from our parent company, Memory Box) was added to the corner. It's gold lettering picks up the gold in the sweaters beautifully!
A small smudge lead to the cutting down of the background panel. No worries though, it still worked out! Our garage and front door cameras often pick up deer crossing our front yard and driveway. Maybe this fancy pair will make an appearance for the holidays! A girl can dream, right?

Anything But A Card
by Lisa Elton

Hello friends, Lisa here today with a challenge reminder! This is an easy one as well as fun. You're invited to make anything but a card! It doesn't have to be a Christmas project. You're free to create whatever you like for any occasion. My project is of the Christmas variety, an idea I found on Pinterest. I plan to use them as tags on packages that can then be hung on the tree! Here's how they all came together.

24 1023 010 copyFirst up, I used the simple rings die to cut three circles. They were ink blended with light blue ink then topped with MB rub on snowflakes. Each of these was then backed with another white circle, their back sides together. This covered those little lines and creases you get on the reverse side of some die cuts.

24 1023 013 copyThe circles were then glued to the backs of  3" embroidery hoops. I purchased mine on Amazon.

24 1023 014 copyEach hoop was topped with a red bow from the Nordic Wreath set.

24 1023 016 copyA trio of sweet little trees from the Nordic Treeline went inside each ring.

24 1025 000 copyThin pine sprigs from the Simple Floral Bundle, cut from aqua and silver glitter cardstock, were tucked into the bows.

24 1025 001 copyEach scene got it's own hand cut snowy hill cut from glitter cardstock. This was adhered to the outside of the hoop to add more depth to the design.

24 1025 005 copyAnd finally the star of each show! First up the Sweet Nordic Snowman.

24 1025 006 copyHe's joined by his friend, the Nordic Bundled Bear!
24 1025 007 copyAnd finally, the Joyful Elf!

24 1025 004 copyThey all received a twine hanger. This was an easy process and they all went together very quickly! Now it's your turn. We can't wait to see what you create and share with us. Have a great day, friends!

Nordic Times Three
By Lisa Elton

I was in a rush to get some Christmas cards made. You? So I set myself up a little assembly line and cranked out three cards in a jiffy. All three cards started with a vanilla card base, one of our pretty Nordic die cuts and a holiday greeting. I used just one 6x6 sheet of designer paper (MB) for all of them, accenting with a couple more bits and pieces of another.

Thumbnail_24 1112 001 copyFirst up is this little number featuring the Nordic Layered Ornament, Little String Bow and the very pretty Merry Christmas Moonlight Script. It's topped with two of the Nordic Wintertide Borders, one adorned with coordinating Pastel Jewels.

Thumbnail_24 1112 002 copyI used gold paper from the Vintage Pastel Mirror pad for the sentiment and part of the ornament. It compliments the snippet of patterned paper (MB) making up the first layer on the ornament. The loops in the bow come in two pieces so you can add them to your liking.

Thumbnail_24 1112 004 copyThe Nordic Bell is the focal point for my second card. This time I cut the center of the decorative paper using the Scallop Pinpoint Rings. I added just the scalloped portion back in leaving the center open for the bell. The Lavish Merry Christmas, backed in vellum, was a good fit for the sentiment.

Thumbnail_24 1112 005 copyOnce again I used sage cardstock, gold Vintage Pastel Mirror paper and another snippet of designer paper (MB) for the bell. The Nordic dies come with a few layers. You can use them all, as I did, or not. It's up to you!

Thumbnail_24 1112 007 copyRemember that Circle left over from the previous card? Well, I added it here cutting another outer scalloped ring in vanilla to frame it. One of the cute Nordic Stockings takes center stage with some festive decorative paper behind it.

Thumbnail_24 1112 008 copyI created a neutral stocking so it didn't compete with the big pine pattern in the circle.

Thumbnail_24 1112 011 copyThree cards in no time at all! Do you have a favorite? I know which one is mine! Now, how many more do I need??!!

I live in the beautiful Garden State of New Jersey not far from the coast where the ocean is my most favorite place to be. I have a very craft supportive husband and two grown sons who always have a positive word about my art. As long as I can remember, I have always had a craft du jour from knitting, to macrame, quilting, stenciling and scrapbooking... When I saw a card making demonstration that included heat embossing in about 2004, I was instantly hooked and I have not looked back. It is my passion, my therapy my joy and a large part of my social network. I have had the good fortune of meeting several card makers over the years which has been such a great pleasure. I am so, so thrilled to be here as Guest Designer for this challenge.
