Thankful For You
by Lisa Elton

24 0818 007 copyAs much as I hate to see summer coming to an end, I think September is a beautiful month and I do love the fall season. I love making fall cards too! To celebrate that, I decided to create a playful card featuring our Dancing Gnome in a fall setting.

24 0818 008 copyFirst up was his outfit. I dressed him up in warm golden and brown tones. These little fellas are a snap to dress using some of those many scraps of cardstock we all have! His beard was cut from white with touches of gray added for shading. Copic Markers were used for his face and I gave him pretty green eyes.

24 0818 010 copy
He's dancing about in the autumn leaves in his corduroy britches! I cut several leaves and little acorns using plaid papers from the Memory Box Gladiola Plaid paper pad.

24 0818 009 copyThe hill he's on was made using a die from the Lavish Border set. One of our Sentimental Banners was the perfect fit. A wash of light blue inking was added to the card base before creating my scene.

24 0818 007 copyAnd there you have it, friends. A playful card to let someone know that I'm thankful for them. By the way, I'm thankful for you too! Happy Autumn!

Hi, my name is Connie Griffin, I started cardmaking by using Print Shop and my printer to print out cards and then attended my first stamp show in the early 2000’s and that has taken up most of my creative time now. I love this hobby because it not only gives me a creative outlet but is something I can pass on to others to hopefully brighten their day. I am married to my wonderful husband for 40 years , we have one daughter and 2 fur baby cats.

Whimsical Hugs and Kisses
By Lisa Elton

24 0729 013 copyReady for a bit of whimsy? The new Large Mushroom House is filled with possibilities! I couldn't resist giving mine a red polka dot roof and a couple of furry friends.

24 0729 009 copyThe Mushroom house stem was die cut from kraft paper then shading was added with Copic Markers. Vellum was adhered to the back of each window with a golden yellow cardstock layered behind it for that magical glow. This polka dot red roof  just makes me happy! The house was added to the Harvest Oval Frame (currently on sale and worth every penny!) cut from Memory Box plaid paper. I snipped a few pieces from the top of the frame to let the mushroom complete the oval.

24 0729 012 copyEverything was added to a top fold marshmallow card base. I rounded the top corners with a punch to keep that oval flow going. A couple of Whittle Squirrels are frolicking about. I think they have their eye on that acorn!

24 0729 013 copyLittle Layered Asters were cut from white cardstock then colored with a Copic Marker to get the same blush tone of the polka dots on the roof.

24 0729 014 copy
I tucked in those pieces cut from the oval frame along with a few more polka dot berry branches (from the same frame) cut from roof scraps. The Sentimental Banners sentiment was positioned to follow the bottom curve of the house.

24 0729 013 copyToday is my late father-in-law's birthday. He used to enjoy sitting in his recliner watching the squirrels out his front window. I think he would have enjoyed a scene like this one. Hugs and kisses to you, dad and a happy heavenly birthday!

A Charming Happy Birthday
By Lisa Elton

24 0729 011 copyHello there Poppy peeps! Are you enjoying all of the wonderful products from our recent release? I've paired our new Nordic Bloom Stencil with a formerly released beauty to create this charming birthday card.

24 0729 004 copyAs you can see, this is a single stencil. It would be perfect for mixed media products. I chose to use inks and little stencil brushes to turn it into this colorful mix. It has a folk art feel, don't you think? With patience and a steady hand you can do it too!

24 0729 005 copyI turned the panel horizontally, then added it to the green card base. This created the charming frame for my Nordic Majestic Bloom.

24 0729 006 copyI layered the bloom using vellum, colored cardstock and a snippet of plaid paper. The flower's calyx and little bird were cut from gold mirrored cardstock.

24 0729 011 copyMy finishing touch was a happy birthday sentiment. I think this design would also work for get well, thank you or even  sympathy cards. I hope I've inspired you to create one of your own. Thanks so much for stopping by, we love it when you do!

Happy Birthday
by Lisa Elton

24 0705 004 copyHello and welcome! I hope your summer is going well and all of your flowers are blooming! I thought is was the perfect time to bring the Brilliant Geraniums out to play. I've added them to a birthday card today. Let see how things started, shall we?

24 0705 002 copyI die cut the blooms then did just a touch of inking to their centers. Then the fun began... layering them up! I was trying to mimic a pretty pot of geraniums we gave my mom for Mother's Day this year. Fairy crystals were added to their centers for a little added pizazz.

24 0705 000 copyNow, where to put those pretty blooms? The Nordic Lacey plate was a good fit. I kept it simple using white cardstock.
24 0705 003 copyThe Happy Birthday Poe Script sentiment was cut from MB patterned paper then added on the diagonal. This left me plenty of room to frame it with the flowers and leaves.

24 0705 005 copyI love the depth and dimension you can get by layering these die cut petals and the leaves are pretty fabulous too. My husbands youngest sister has a birthday next month. I think we'll hand deliver this one instead of letting it get flattened in the mail!

Monkey Business
By Lisa Elton

24 0626 000 copyShiver me timbers, there's a whole lot of monkey business happening on today's card! My little band of pirate monkeys have found their dream treasure on a tiny deserted island. No doubloons or pieces of eight for them, but this booty is pure gold nonetheless!

24 0625 004 copyBeing the fancy monkey pirates they are, they needed decorative hats! A lovely floral for the captain and soft blue plaids for her crew.

24 0625 003 copyUsing die cuts from the Whittle Pirate Monkey Kit, I created the ship using kraft and brown cardstocks. The crow's nest, anchor and porthole where cut from kraft as well, then colored with a Copic marker. Lady pirates require a fancy sail!

24 0625 005 copyNext came the components for the deserted island. They were made using the Whittle Tropical Gator Kit. The puffy clouds came from the Whittle Unicorn Kit. I love the way all of the whittle kits play together!

24 0626 001 copyI think this captain has a couple of swashbucklers on her hands, just look at their antics! Scuttlebutt has it that they like to partake in their banana daiquiris!
24 0626 000 copy
I cut oodles of the little bananas, leaving some single and turning others into bunches.  A Copic maker was used on the tips. The card base was a simple blue with ink blending for the water, splash and sand.

24 0626 000 copyThanks for taking a peek today. It's time for me to weigh anchor and set sail for my next card adventure, savvy?
