Dimensional Penguin Cards with Nordic Flair
by Jyoti Adhikari

Untitled design 3.png
Creating cards with depth and dimension is one of my favorite techniques, and today, I’m sharing a card featuring a sweet penguin and some beautiful Nordic-inspired designs from Poppystamps. Let’s dive into the details of how I made these cards stand out!

Building the Adorable Penguin Focal Point

For my card today, I chose the Nordic Playful Penguin Craft Die as my main focal point. I dressed my penguin in a cozy teal coat, scarf, and hat. The detail in this die is just charming, and the winter attire adds a cute, playful element to the card. I used foam tape to add dimension, making the penguin pop off the background.

Creating a Delicate Background

The background was made with the Nordic Fancy Background Craft Die, which is a two-piece set. I cut the solid background layer from shimmery white cardstock and the top, intricate floral layer from teal cardstock. This combination created a subtle but beautiful contrast that perfectly complements the penguin. The delicate design of the floral layer added an elegant texture, while the shimmer of the base layer gave the card a wintery sparkle.

Adding a Contrast with Circles

To help the penguin stand out even more against the detailed background, I used the Scallop Pinpoint Rings Craft Die to cut an orange circle. The warm orange color really popped against the cooler teal and white tones of the card, providing the perfect contrast for the penguin to take center stage. Untitled design 4.png

Crafting the Perfect Sentiment

The sentiment “Let it Snow” was created using the Let it Snow Moonlight Script Craft Die. I die-cut the letters in teal and used shimmery white cardstock for the shadow layer. This added another cohesive pop of color that tied the card together beautifully. The sentiment was placed at the bottom of the card, aligning perfectly with the overall design.

Assembling the Card

With all the elements ready, it was time to assemble! I adhered the background to an A2 card base with foam tape for that added lift. The orange circle was glued to the center, providing a vibrant base for the penguin. Finally, I attached the penguin with foam tape for even more dimension. The sentiment was carefully placed along the bottom, completing my card.

Blog:  Bunny's Cards

Hey, y’all. What an honor it is to be chosen as a Guest Designer.  I live in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I’m married to my best friend, have children, grandchildren and the best pet in the world. His name is Woolfie the Bear. He’s a stuffed teddy bear and he knows he’s not real. I’ve been making cards for close to 15 years.  I think it’s a lot of fun to teach other people how to make cards.  I wish that I could find card makers in my area so I could get together with them.

Sweet Celebrations: A Birthday Card

SweetTreatCard.1

Creating handmade cards is always a delightful experience, and using new products from the Poppystamps Corner Shop Collection made it even more exciting. Today, I'm sharing a charming birthday card that’s perfect for celebrating in style. Let's dive into the process of creating this colorful and fun card.

Choosing the Perfect Products

For this card, I used several fantastic products from the new Corner Shop Collection released on May 24, including the Corner Shop Birthday Treats Craft Die, Corner Shop Birthday Celebrations Craft Die, Corner Shop Dessert Stand Craft Die, Birthday Banners Clear Stamp Set, and Scallop Pinpoint Rings Craft Die.

SweetTreatCard.2

Crafting the Card Base

I started by cutting an orange patterned paper with gold foiling from Memory Box to fit an A2 card front. For a focal point, I used the Scallop Pinpoint Rings Craft Die to cut a blue cardstock circle.

SweetTreatCard..3

Assembling the Card

I adhered the orange patterned paper to the A2 card base and positioned the blue scalloped circle on the right-hand side, trimming any excess. Then, I arranged the die-cut cakes, cupcakes, and banner on the circle, centering the cake stand.

SweetTreatCard..4

Adding the Sentiment

I stamped “It’s cake time” from the Birthday Banners Clear Stamp Set on a blue cardstock strip and placed it along the bottom of the card, aligning it under the circle.

To add sparkle, I die-cut tiny circles from rose gold glitter paper and scattered them around the card.

Creating this birthday card with the Poppystamps Corner Shop Collection was a fun and rewarding process. The vibrant colors, detailed die cuts, and elegant accents resulted in a card that's sure to bring joy to anyone celebrating their special day. I hope this inspires you to explore the new Poppystamps products and create your own beautiful cards. Happy crafting!

Hugs,

Jyoti

A Charming Flower Shop Card
by Jyoti Adhikari

CornerFlowerShop.1

The latest release from Poppystamps is here, and it's brimming with creativity and charm! Among the exciting new products, the Corner Shop Pop Up Easel Set craft die stands out as a versatile and delightful addition to any cardmaker's collection. This set, along with the Flower and Leaf Sprinkles craft die and the Corner Shoppe Flower Pot Shelves craft die, offers endless possibilities for creating intricate and beautiful scenes that are sure to impress.

CornerFlowerShop.2

For this card, I decided to use the Corner Shop Pop Up Easel Set in a non-traditional way. Instead of making a pop-up card, I designed an A2 card with the corner flower shop as the central focus. The idea was to create a charming, cozy scene that would stand out and captivate the viewer's attention. Using a soft palette of muted pinks and beige along with mirror gold linings giving it a cozy and inviting look.

CornerFlowerShop.3

The flower pots, cut from the Corner Shoppe Flower Pot Shelves die, added an extra layer of detail. These pots, arranged strategically around the shop, help to create a sense of dimension and realism. To add vibrancy, I incorporated pops of pink in the flowers, which were created using the Flower and Leaf Sprinkles die. These tiny blooms were carefully placed to add a touch of brightness and life to the scene, contrasting beautifully with the muted tones of the shop.

CornerFlowerShop.4

One of the great things about this card is its versatility. By not adding a sentiment, it can be tailored for any occasion – whether it's a birthday, a thank you, or just a note to brighten someone's day.

I hope you find inspiration in this charming corner flower shop card. The latest products from Poppystamps make it easy to create beautiful, detailed scenes that are perfect for any occasion. Stay tuned for more creative projects and ideas as we continue to explore the endless possibilities of these fantastic new releases. Happy crafting!

Hugs,

Jyoti

PSC #115 Reminder Look Out The Window
by Jyoti Adhikari

MajesticBloomWindowCard.2

Hey, crafty friends! It's time for another exciting reminder about our ongoing challenge here at Poppystamps. This time, we're inviting you to embrace the beauty of window cards with our "Look Out the Window" challenge!

Window cards offer endless possibilities for creativity, allowing you to peek into a world of your own making. Whether you're gazing out onto a serene landscape, a bustling cityscape, or a whimsical scene, the choice is yours.

Majestic Bloom Trifold Delight

For this challenge, I decided to think outside the box and create a trifold card that offers a unique twist on the traditional window card design.

First, I started with a regular A2 card base and added an additional panel to transform it into a trifold card. This provided the perfect canvas for my vision to unfold.

MajesticBloomWindowCard.5

Next, I introduced a captivating element—a cutout window using the shadow layer die from the majestic bloom die set. This allowed a glimpse into the inner fold of the card where a beautiful flower awaited.

With precision and care, I aligned the flower on the second panel to seamlessly blend with the cutout, creating a harmonious composition that draws the eye.

MajesticBloomWindowCard.1

To enhance the overall aesthetic, I delicately ink blended the card front, adding a subtle vignette of red shades that complemented the floral motif.

But the magic didn't stop there! The majestic bloom die set also features charming birds, which I strategically placed on either side of the flower, adding an extra touch of whimsy to the scene.

MajesticBloomWindowCard.6

To tie it all together, I chose a sentiment that spanned across the cutout, giving the illusion that the birds were gracefully carrying a banner of heartfelt words.

And there you have it—my interpretation of the "Look Out the Window" challenge, brought to life through layers of creativity and imagination.

Now it's your turn! We can't wait to see how you embrace the challenge and infuse your own unique flair into the world of window cards.

Meet our  April Guest Leah Hultenschmidt selected and introduced by Design Team Member  Jyoti.

Leah and I met through the vibrant world of Instagram's card makers community, where her talent and passion for floral designs and bright color palettes shine brightly. Despite residing in the same city, our attempts to meet in person have been thwarted by various obstacles. Nevertheless, we remain hopeful that the near future holds the promise of finally connecting face-to-face and sharing our mutual love for card making.

Hi! I'm so excited to participate as a guest designer this month. My day job is as a publisher and editor for women's fiction and romance novels, and I've been living my own happily-ever-after for 17 years with my amazing spouse. I originally started doing digital scrapbooking as a way to better understand composition and Photoshop skills for reviewing book covers, and from there I evolved into physical stamping and cardmaking. I love that I can have a finished card (or three!) in an afternoon, and it's such a relaxing creative outlet for me. I also so appreciate the amazing and inspiring community of crafters I've met along the way. It's especially fun when cardmakers say they've enjoyed a book I've worked on too.  My whole book club is also now into cardmaking, and I pulled my mom in as well. In fact, she'll be the recipient of this card, as hippos are her favorite and I couldn't resist this adorable Whittle die. Thanks again so much for having me this month!
