Cabin Snowglobe
by Sue McRae

Hello everyone, Sue here with a card using the Cabin Snowglobe Pop Up Easel Die Set. This is such a wonderful set for creating charming Christmas, winter, or anytime of the year cards. It’s perfect for making masculine cards, which I know can be difficult to create.

I went with a frosty look in blues, pinks and purples for my design. For the background I inked up the circle die cut with Distress Inks and sprayed it heavily with Perfect Pearls for lots of shimmer.

To create a swirly, windy sky I embossed this piece with the Waves 3D Embossing Folder. Love how it turned out!

I die cut all my different scene pieces with a variety of Memory Box coloured and glitter cardstock.

For the snowglobe base I used the White Woodgrain Paper and ink blended some gray on top.

You can really play around with all the layers and add foam adhesive to create depth and dimension. I added foam dots between the house and yellow window background for some nice shadows.

The great thing about this popup card, is that it fits into an A2 envelope, even with all the layers and added dimension.

I stamped a simple sentiment on the inside of the card so that there’s lots of room for adding a personal message.

Just think how different this card would look for spring with grass instead of snow, some added flowers and blooming trees and a bright sky inked in yellow and orange.

Thanks for visiting with me on the blog today!

Snowglobe shaker
by Tiffany Pryce

20211207_112817-3

Hey Poppy peeps! Tiffany here popping in with some more inspiration for you. I think this Cabin Snowglobe die has been a favorite of the design team. It is so versatile and can be used in many ways. Use it as is, interchange the dies, use the dies on other projects - the combinations are endless. I decided to make my snowglobe interactive by turning it into a shaker card! Shakers always put a smile on my face and are perfect for snowy, winter scenes.

Putting this card together was pretty straightforward. I die cut all the pieces like the cabin and the trees from white or glitter cardstock. I used the circle die to cut into the base snowglobe die in order to make a shaker frame. I die cut two frames for stability and then added acetate with liquid glue. I used liquid glue because I did not have double sided tape that was thin enough. Behind the acetate, I added foam tape to ensure none of the shaker bits would fall out. I adhered the scene on top with double sided tape and popped the cabin up for dimension. For the snowglobe base, I die cut it from green cardstock and added some shading on the edges with dye ink.

Inside the shaker card, I lined it with pattern paper from the Madras Plaid Coral and Green paper pack. I used the negative die cut on top for a clear space to write my holiday message. I also stamped a sentiment from the Gilded Christmas Wishes stamp set. Finally, I added some holly leaves and berries to the bottom so help the easel stand upright more easily. Pro tip: Although I managed to forget this step, always glue some shaker pieces onto the background. This is so when the card is upright, there are still shaker pieces visible at the top when all the other pieces fall to the bottom.

What a fun design that was easy to put together! I know the recipient will love adding this card to her holiday decor. Until next time, happy crafting! As a bonus, check out two more versions that I made using the same supplies below.

Festive Farmhouse Christmas
by Janet Katz

JOY card with sig

I'm a big fan of the farmhouse look, the rustic charm characterized by simple materials and a good amount of white space. Visit any craft store, furniture store, or my living room and you'll see how popular it is. At Christmas, this style means buffalo plaid, wicker or wire baskets, unvarnished wood, bottle brush trees, and more plaid. With some black and red check paper in my stash, I started working on a farmhouse Christmas card. I used the Double Joy Die set and cut the background from the check paper. The Poppystamps Woodgrain Kraft Paper was the perfect choice to create the outline. It *really* looks like wood.

I wanted to set this off from the background but still use a woodgrain background, so I reached for the same paper but in the Cream color (also comes in white). Then I wanted to add something below the O to give it some texture and softness. I used the holly leaves and berries from the Cabin Snowglobe Pop Up Easel Die Set. I finished off the card by layering a scallop-edged kraft paper, red paper and yep, more plaid beneath that. I was very happy with how it turned out and it was easy to make.

The Cabin Snowglobe die set is the gift that keeps on giving. When I was cutting out the red berries, I had to cut red leaves since they are all part of one die. When I looked at the red leaves, they suddenly resembled a certain red holiday flower. I'm getting an idea!

Cabin Snowglobe Pop Up
by Nancy Penir

Good Saturday Morning Friends! I have some bright holiday inspiration for you the weekend before Thanksgiving, and it's a Christmas Snowglobe!

DSC_0040_wm

While perusing Pinterest, I came across a color scheme I just loved! The designer (Wanda Guess) chose bright pastels, and the effect was stunning. I'm sharing those colors with you today. Aqua, baby pink and a touch of darker pink.

I die cut all the pieces for my Pop Up card and played with the placement of all the elements. You'll see I didn't use all the pieces.

The finished Pop Up Easel card fits nicely in an A2 sized envelope, when folded down.

My inside message and a few of the leftover die cuts. Note the raised stop at the bottom that catches the pop up front of the card.

And here's a closeup of the details, doubled sentiment and snowflake make those elements stand out. And, 'lighted' windows in the cabins.

I hope you're enjoying this most precious of seasons, and hope you give this color scheme a try. Making it a crafty weekend always makes it a happy one!

Gingerbread Snowglobe
by Janet Katz

Gingerbread2 with sig
How could I resist combining a snowglobe with a gingerbread house? The Cottage Globe dies married with the Cabin Snowglobe Pop Up Easel dies helped me create this sweet scene. I started with the cottage and cut it from 4 different colors of cardstocks: red, white glitter, honey-brown to represent gingerbread, and two from yellow. I trimmed the door off the honey-brown one. I cut another cottage from red paper and snipped off the door to use. I loved the idea of having a window in the door and was thrilled to see that I could put the red door upside down onto the cottage die and cut a window out of the door (yes, tweezers and reading glasses were critical for this).
IMG_2995
I went over the door with a clear glitter pen. I used the window inlays from my two yellow cottages and inset them into the honey-brown cottage and the red door. Before I added the frosted roof, I used a white gel pen to doodle on the cottage, making it look like icing. Once the cottage was complete, the rest was easier. I die cut the fence and the tree from the same honey-brown cardstock and used my white gel pen to add snow.  I cut two snow mounds from the snow die that came with the Cottage Globe die, one from white cardstock, the other from glitter cardstock.

I cut the two base pieces of the card from red and white cardstock. I cut the globe from pale blue cardstock and used a medium blue ink to just barely edge it with ink. I even glued down  a few pieces of snowflake-shaped glitter to add to the snowy feel. Now I wanted to add candy to the scene. Some shaker bits and tiny tree ornaments I picked up at the craft store really fit the bill. I played with the arrangement before I glued things down.

IMG_2971
I could have created the candy with paper and markers too. I glued down tiny peppermints onto the tree and I snipped the little hanger loops off the mini lollipops. Next I assembled everything onto the blue circle, starting with the tree, then adding the white snow, then the fence. Then I had to carefully glue down the lollipops. Next I used foam adhesive to adhere the glitter snow mound. I used liquid glue on the bottom of the cottage and foam adhesive on the top to get the dimension correct so it would sit level.

I next adhered the globe onto the white card base. I had die cut the snowglobe base from dark brown cardstock and the trim from a brushed gold cardstock. I glued these together and then only used liquid glue to adhere the base to the bottom of the glitter snow mound. I could have also put foam adhesive behind the base to attach it to the white cardstock, but it wasn't necessary. Finally I put everything down onto the red easel, attaching the white base to a narrow, pre-scored flap so the card can stand up. I liked my card as it was but I could easily add a sentiment to the base. This card would also make a great tree ornament as it is not too big. What can you imagine creating  with it?
