Art Deco Birthday Card
by Jeanne Jachna

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope your weekend is off to a good start!  Today I'm sharing a birthday card that has an art deco flair.   I've given it a modern twist with lots of color that would make this one ideal for just about anyone on your list!

I confess the arches in the detailed die reminded me of peacock feathers - that's how I decided on the shades of blue and green.

My die cut machine is getting older and having trouble cutting completely through a detailed die without a metal shim.  I'm using that to my advantage today by cutting the die just so I can get an imprint of the pattern on my card stock.  I used the imprinted image as a guide to help me color the panel with markers.     If you're machine is in tip top shape you can add some shipping tape to the back of your card stock to make it harder for the die to cut through completely.

You don't have to be too careful about coloring just as long as you don't enter another area of the design because when you're finished coloring you will top your pretty colored sheet  with  a detailed clean die cut panel.   I  keep one handy so I can make sure I didn't miss anything before I adhere the two together.

Of course you won't want to cover that pretty panel, so I stamped a sentiment on vellum with Staz On ink.   I topped the sentiment with a rectangle frame die before adhering it to the assembled background panel.   Vellum can be a little tricky to adhere because adhesive will show through the vellum.  The frame allows you to adhere it without putting any adhesive on the vellum at all keeping it very clean.

I hope you'll try this technique to add a little color to some of your die cuts.  It's much quicker than an inlay and still packs a punch!

Cheers To You

Poppystamps 8.27.1

Hey there Craft friends, Candice here, back on the blog with another project share.                                                                                The new Geometric Deco Plate and Art Deco Birthday Greetings stamp set is not only perfect for making cards, but it is also great for tags.

Poppystamps 8.27.21 2

To  create today's project, first you will need to die cut the Geometric Deco Plate from gold glitter cardstock. Next die cut a black tag from the Double Stitch Tag Frames die from some black cardstock.  Then adhere the Deco Plate die cut to the black tag with some liquid adhesive with a finetip nozzel. Art Glitter glue works best for adhereing tiny pieces of cardstock. Trim off any excess that hangs off of the tag. Paper piece the trimmed excess pieces to fill in any gaps with the tag to complete the design.

Next stamp the sentiment "Cheers" in Versamark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Lastly punch a hole in the center of the tag add your gold cording and your all set. Cute Art Deco Tag that is perfect to add to any gift.

I hope you have all enjoyed today's project share and found inspiration. Until next time....happy crafting.

August Challenge Anything Goes
by Candice Crawford

Hey there crafty friends, Candice here, popping on the blog to remind you all about our monthly challenge.

This months PSC#83 is Anything Goes!  We're looking for projects for any occasion featuring any of your favorite Poppystamps Images.  The challenge is not limited to cards - we'd love to see your page layouts, home decor, tags, and mixed media.  It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!

Need a little inspiration? Today's card is Art Deco themed featuring the Geometric Deco Plate and the Art Deco Birthday stamp set.

Poppystamps 4

This card is very easy to make. Simply die cut some gold glitter paper with the Geometric Deco Plate and adhere the background die cut to a black A2 size cardbase. Then on a 2 x 3.25 inch piece of balck card stock stamp the "Happy Birthday To A Very Special Someone" sentiment in versamark ink and heat emboss with white detailed embossing powder.

Poppystamps 2

Adhere the sentiment piece to a 2.25 x 3.50 inch gold glitter piece of cardstock with liquid adhesive, then attach the entire piece to the cardbase with foam tape.

For a bit more detail on the sentiment I brushed on some perfect pearls in gold on the stripe portion of the sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed today's cardshare and found inspiration. Until next time....happy crafting.

Thanks for Being There
by Nancy Penir

Hi there! How are you all? Kids back in school? A bit more free time to create? Let's look at one of the new Deco dies in the shop now. Art Deco has endless design possibilities! I used the Arched Deco Plate for a  card for a dear friend.

I began by die cutting the plate, not twice but 3 times in purple, gold and aqua foil. I would suggest using your shim for a clean cut.

There are many ways to attach layers. My favorite is glue in a tiny pointed tipped bottle. You can use spray adhesive, or run the pieces through a Xyron machine. Because the cardstock and foiled stock is heavier, it keeps its shape while gluing. The glue dries quickly so you have to move along quickly, but you don't need to glue each and every piece.

After embossing the sentiment, I popped up the framed piece  with foam.

What do you do with intricate framed pieces? I love backing them with contrast color for an extra pop! Hopefully you'll give this a try, if you haven't done so already.

Have a great and crafty week!
