Colors of Autumn Challenge Reminder

Colors of Autumn

Hello!  I  hope everyone is doing well and enjoying time in the craft room!  Just a little inspiration and reminder for the Colors of Autumn monthly challenge and your chance to win a gift certificate to the Poppystamps store!  Entering is easy- check out the link to the page here for all the details.

Autumn Cover

For my Colors card, I used one of my favorite fall dies from Poppystamps called Maple Symphony.  I die cut it out of a piece of 4" x 5.25" white cardstock, and used a craft knife to cut out the center lines.  This creates a fun color that will show through from behind (see the photo instructions below).

Next, I created the background out of a piece of 4.25" x 5.5" white card stock.  I randomly colored fall colors of Distress Oxide ink onto the background as shown below:

This could also be done with the Butterfly Symphony using spring colors!  Next, I colored the leaves that were left over from the die cutting with a purple and yellow Distress Oxide ink.  This part could be done in so many ways... how about foil cardstock?  Also, the background could be made of a single color... so many options here!  Simply glue all together, and attach to a card base.  Done!

Have a wonderful day!  I hope to see you over at the Challenge page with your entry and chance to win!

Challenge Reminder: Colors Of Autumn

Hello Autumn Card by Nadine Carlier

Hello, Nadine here today with a reminder to enter the PSC#74 Colors Of Autumn!  The rules are simple, you just need to use a die or stamp from Poppystamps and create something that is crafty using colors of Autumn... reds, yellows, oranges, and everything in between.  Not feeling like a color challenge?  That's ok.. how about some fall foliage, pumpkins, apples, gourds, and cornstalks?  Maybe some whittle fall critters?  Gobble gobble!!!  Just like the bounty of the harvest, there are lots of possibilities! Link up your projects... cards, tags, home decor, and more!  It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!

To help give you some inspiration, I created my card using the Maple Leaf Side Strips and Stencil. I die cut it out of white cardstock and then used the stencil to color in the leaves using some fall ink colors and a blending brush. Then adhered the white panel to the front of an off white card base.

For the sentiment, I used the Luscious Script Hello and cut it out using some orange foiled paper.

Challenge Reminder: Colors of Autumn
by Kim Singdahlsen

11.11 Colors of Autumn 640
The current Poppystamps challenge is Colors of Autumn. I love all the colors of autumn - along with the cooler temperatures and frosty mornings!!  It's my favorite season! I decided to use a variety of autumn leaves on the fabulous Bird House Pop Up Easel set.

All of these dies are just fabulous.  There's amazing detail on the various leaves and berries - I used the Whittle Oak Leaf on top and groupings of Garden Leaves and Berries and Orchard Leaves.  (The pine sprigs are in the Bird House set.)

I have wanted to play with the Bird House since it showed up in my mailbox. It's actually from the Christmas release and with other dies that come with it - you can add snow!  I love the details like the embossing to show the strips of wood and the lines around the doorway. While I will definitely be doing a Christmas version of this, it struck me that I could make the bird a Blue Jay (vs. a Christmas cardinal) and make it a fall card.

11.11 Colors of Autumn Close 640

I did start the process with a bit of trepidation - I don't do many dimensional projects.  I looked at all the dies in the set and wasn't quite sure how it worked, so I searched this blog for "easel" and got enough hints to put it together, so let me lay it all out here for you.  (FYI - just two days ago, Nancy posted a gorgeous Christmas version of this card and she used a slightly different method!)

First cut the big die which is the base and the back - it Z-folds like shown.  The base will show on your card so make sure the good part of the die cut is up when you fold it.  Also cut the two front dies (or at least the bottom one.)  I did the bottom one in a darker brown as an accent.

11.11 Cut

Add adhesive to the small part of the z-fold on the base.  That's going to adhere to the back of the front piece (it's not as confusing as it sounds). You want to adhere it so it lines up with the base.  On the picture on the right, the outer kraft color is the base, the next two layers up are the front.

11.11 Adhere

When you are done, this is how it works.  See how the little z-fold is stuck to the back of the front!!  It will stand like the picture on the right - you just have to adhere something there (I used a sentiment, but another leaf - or anything that creates a stopper for the top to rest against.

11.11 Final

Then have fun decorating your house!!

11.11 Colors of Autumn 2 640

The best part of this - it folds flat so you can mail it and it fits in a regular card envelope.

Hi there! Marybeth, here today. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying October.

For this card, I used the beautiful Snowy Forest Embossing folder from memory box , for the backdrop of my card.

937CC73D-F193-4929-8B2F-B51C75596935_1_201_a

Not sure if you can see but I added some glitter on the embossed folder , its such a beautiful  shimmer in person.

I simply added the glitter die cut trees from Poppystamps to the already embossed panel.

In the photo above I am showing how I die cut the leaves , you might not even need a metal shim but the trees came out so beautifully when I did. Glitter paper is a bit thicker than most paper,  the dies cut like butter with the shim. You could probably use an extra paper if needed and you don't have a shim.

I always cut out way more than I need  so I can choose as I go, to create my card then I have extra for the next card.
