Cottage Meadow Birthday Card
By Nancy Penir

DSC_0049

Hi! I have a card today made with some of the new Memory Box designer papers. This paper pack is called, Cottage Meadow, and is full of colorful, floral, double sided papers. I love it all! For my card I chose a print with white posies on an orange background. Here's how I made my card.

I always need birthday cards, and decided on a shaker. The die set, Echo Blossoms, cuts 8 different sizes of the flower shape. I used the largest for my shaker.

You've probably done this dozens of times, but I thought I'd show it anyway, just in case you're new to making a shaker. On the back side of the die cut, with the acetate in place, the foam tape is scored and placed around each petal, close to the opening. Takes a bit of time, but in this covid season, I seem to have plenty of time. My shaker elements are chosen for color and shape, and placed in the middle of the base card.

I created a frame for the window by using the 2 largest blooms and taping them together before running through the machine.

Add a few die cuts and sequins to the front, and a sentiment, and my square card is done! I like to make my own envelopes for a square card (behind the card).

Hope you were inspired to use your printed papers for your next project. They come in handy when you need a quick card! Have a wonderful, and safe weekend!

Butterfly Easel Card
by Sue McRae

DSCN0204c

Welcome crafters to another Poppystamps post with Sue! I hope your summer has been going splendidly! We are having a heat wave in my neck of the woods and am grateful to have air conditioning!

DSCN0259c

Today I have an easel card for you using the Adriana Pop Up Easel Set. The easel card is really easy to put together and if you need some guidance Dave made a video showing you the steps to create an easel card. Watch the video here.

I die cut the base of the card from plum card stock. I then took the pretty butterfly patterned paper from the Springtime Bouquet Pad and adhered it to white cardstock to make it sturdier, as this will be the card front.

DSCN0231c

I die cut the butterfly panel with the Butterfly Symphony die and ran the die through my die cut machine once more with glitter cardstock so I could adhere the sparkly butterflies over the patterned butterflies on the panel. I really love all the layers of butterflies on this piece!

DSCN0255c

For the inside of the card I die cut a piece of pink cardstock.

For the sentiment I used the smallest Double Stitch Scalloped Rectangle Frame and die cut it from patterned paper and twice from white cardstock and adhered them together to make a thicker frame.

DSCN0245c

I stamped the sentiment with black ink and added it to the inside of the frame.

My final step was to add some iridescent sequins among the butterflies for a little sparkle and shine.

DSCN0264c

In the end I only used 2 of the 6 dies included in the Adriana Pop Up Easel Set so that you could see how to make this easel card using other Poppystamps products, not just the ones that come in the set.

DSCN0214c

This really is a versatile die that is great for many occasions all year long! I hope you include it in your crafty stash!

Summer birthday
by Tina Wilstrup

Watermark1.593510977832E12

Hello everyone! Can you believe it's July? The last 4 months feel more like years. Right? It's officially summer though and we can at least enjoy the wonder of flowers. So today I have a dry embossed, watercolored card for you.
Watermark1.593510977832E12

I started by applying ink to the inside of the embossing folder. I used Distress ink, since they're easy to clean. I spritzed a bit of water, wiped off the flower part as best I could, and laid the watercolor cardstock on top. I then ran it through my die cutting machine. Make sure you follow directions for your machine, these are thick embossing folders.
Watermark1.593510977832E12

I first heat set the ink with my heat tool and then applied a dark yellow ink - pad directly to paper - over the sunflower. Notice that I got some yellow into the blue background. I'll cover that later. With a waterbrush I carried some of the ink to the rest of the petals. I again made sure it was completely dry before lightly running over my embossing ink. I did get more ink on than planned, but I had just reinked my pad. So that's something to keep in mind. I added a clear  glittery embossing powder and heat set that. Then I used my finger to dab embossing ink to the middle of the flower and applied an embossing powder that's a mix of gold, silver and copper. Watermark1.593510977832E12

I then cut my scallopped frame and placed over the sunflower. Here I've already cut off a couple of corners but you can still see that it's quite off set. I adhered the flower and frame to a white cardbase.

I cut a couple of butterflies and a happy birthday sentiment from glitter cardstock. I absolutely love this teal color and it's the perfect contrast to the yellow flower.
Watermark1.593510977832E12

I adhered the sentiment cuts and then played around with placing the butterflies strategically to cover my ink pad mistakes from earlier. I didn't cover all of them, but most.

So there you have my sparkly flower card, and in case you missed it the challenge theme this month is Glim and Glam - add some sparkle.

See you next time. In the meantime, happy crafting!

Peony Bud Wreath
by Sue McRae

IMG_1635c

Welcome crafty friends to another day of inspiration! Today I have a card featuring one of the small images from the Peony Garden Corner stamp set.

Do you ever feel like the small images in a stamp set get ignored because the large image or images catches our eye first? I know I’m guilty of this so I thought I would pick one of the smaller or filler images from the stamp set and let it be the focal of my card.

IMG_1633c

I stamped and die cut a bunch of the peony buds from white card stock and coloured them in a rainbow of shades using my Copics. I knew I wanted to make a wreath with them and played around with round and oval shapes and decided to go the oval route.

For the flower background I used the Ring Tile Stencil with light grey ink and blended it unevenly, leaving some spots lighter and some spots darker. I then added my flower buds which are mounted with foam tape. I felt like it needed a little something more so I die cut berries from glitter card stock and placed them around the wreath.

IMG_1626c

I stamped my sentiment on the inside of the wreath and die cut the happy birthday sentiment from 3 layers of black card stock and added that to the bottom of the panel.

The panel was foam mounted onto my white card base and I used a glitter pen to add a bit of sparkle to the centre of the flower buds.

Thanks for stopping by today and let me know in the comments if you like using those smaller images in your stamp set or if you tend to forget about them.

Wishing you a sunshiny day!

Happy Birthday Stitched Tag
by Candice Crawford

Poppy Stamps Blog Post 6

Hi there crafty friends, Candice here showcasing a cute and easy card using the new Happy Birthday Stitched Tag set. This two piece set that comes with a stitched tag and a happy birthday sentiment. This set can be used to make tags or embellish a card.

Poppystamps 6.29.2

To make this card, you will need to die cut the tag twice from some patterned paper. I am using the Memory Box Springtime Bouquet Stripes and Dots paper. Next take the sentiment die and cut the Happy Birthday phrase three times from white card stock. You will want to die cut the sentiment multiple times so that it has some depth and dimension on your card. Adhere your three layers of sentiments using some liquid glue. Next glue your sentiment to one of the die cut tags.

Poppystamps 6.29.4

Now using some scrap card stock from your stash die cut three butterflies in various sizes and pastel colors using the Intricate Cut Butterflies die. Adhere your your butterflies to both tags with foam tape.

Poppystamps 6.29.3

With a sheet of 6x6 patterned paper from the Memory Box Springtime Bouquet paper pad, die cut your card front using the Double Stitch Rectangle Frames die. The die will cut both a frame and the inside portion of the frame. I reassembled both pieces back together onto an A2 size card base. Finally adhere your decorated tags to the card front with some foam tape.

Poppystamps 6.29.1

There you have it! A cute, simple and stunning card in minutes. Create a second tag to place onto a gift or gift bag and you will have an awesome presentation for wishing some a special Happy Birthday. I hope you have enjoyed today's project and found inspiration. Until next time, happy crafting!

PSC#69 Clean and Simple  This month we're looking for projects that are Clean and Simple.    Clean and Simple is a style - it's typically defined by lots of clean white space,  limited embellishments and layers, and one main image.  The card should be easy to recreate and make multiples of and Just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!

I used the Intricate Cut Butteries for this card , I took a picture of different butterflies but done the same.  I cut a few butterflies at a time from memory box , patterned paper called: Garden Folly, I can select the ones I like. I also like to layer them with the white layer on the bottom

I only used the "Happy Birthday" without the tag this time. I think the double layers of butterflies gives a bit of movement to the card.
