Hugs from a Whittle Beaver
by Kim Singdahlsen

8.19.21 PS BL

As I was planning a card for this post, I was also preparing my sons to head back to college.  That made me aware of the fact that I need to add to my stash of cards to send to them if life gets tough or for any exciting moments. So I wanted to do a very clean and fresh masculine card with a bit of whimsy.  I found the "paper hugs" sentiment in the Marzipan Greetings set, then I realized the Whittle Beaver could actually hold something as his little arms were cut out with the die!  I decided he'd hug a heart - I had many heart choices but settled on the two-tone heart from the Whittle Unicorn. I gave my beaver a tree to cut down, then added a bit of plaid paper for this masculine card.

I still had everything out on my desk when I realized this card could be sweet in feminine colors.  I have been sending weekly cards to my mother-in-law since the beginning of COVID lockdowns.  She's very appreciative, but the only card she has specifically mentioned is this one that I did with the Whittle Sloth. So I found some floral paper, changed it all to pink, then I moved the Whittle Beaver and Swaying Birch to the other side of the card because I liked the way his tail filled some of the space from the sentiment.

Just as with all of the Whittles, the expression on this little guy's face is absolutely charming!

Both of these cards were quick and easy. That Whittle Beaver is so cute, he stands out whether it's a quick and easy card or whether he has lots of whittle friends and other detail around him! And I LOVE that he hugs! I am a huge fan of the whittles and the beaver may be at the top of the list!Kim Floral Signature copy

August Challenge Anything Goes
by Michele K. Henderson

Hello Friends!

The Dog Days of Summer are here, and pups of all sizes couldn't be happier! From melting popsicles on the ground to sprinklers in the grass, every dog has its day on a dog day afternoon! Let's celebrate our four-legged friends with a bright and sunny card for our Poppystamps August Challenge, Anything Goes! Are you playing along?

Our challenges are easy to enter. All you have to do is create a card or project that features at least one Poppystamps product, link it up on our Challenge page, and you might be randomly selected for some sweet summer prizes!

This cheery card was so much fun to make! I started with a bright blue card base background, and cut the Whittle Sunshine, Whittle Dog, Whittle Popsicle, and Whittle Clouds. Then I cut the phrase DOG DAYS in rainbow colors and again in white to create a little bright contrast. The Marzipan Alphabet is my new favorite, making fun casual letters for any occasion.

Once all the pieces were cut, I stamped the phrase IT'S ALL GOOD from the Clear Stamp Set, Marzipan Greetings. I centered it onto a cut from Word Balloons, and captured this doggie's thoughts at his new found treasure!

I took a foam pop circle, cut it in half, and placed them both on my Word Balloon cut. I also used a tiny end from the red Whittle Cloud I cut and added it to the end of the Whittle Popsicle, to make it look like it had begun to melt.

Then I assembled it all together for a bright and breezy summer card, perfect for your pooch-loving pals!

Now it's your turn! We can't wait to see what you'll create for this month's challenge, Anything Goes! Poppystamps has so much to choose from too, from our Whittles collection to our newest art deco borders and frames. What inspires you?

Thank you so much for joining us today!

A Summer Hug
by Nancy Penir

I've been playing around with the slimline dies, Poppystamps has in the store, and love the Leafy Vines Slim Plate.

My card today is for no one in particular, just a general 'Hugs' card. Who couldn't use a hug right now?

Lots of bright summer colors, and happy flowers to brighten someone's day!

My cardstock began it's life in white, and was transformed with Distress Oxide Inks, blended. I did the reverse color combo before die cutting the leafy vine.

The Slimlines will fit any business size envelope, and mails with a regular stamp.

Hope you give a slimline a try, if you haven't attempted one yet.

Have a wonderful week, hope it's crafty!

Seas the Day
by Sue McRae

Hello crafters! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far! I have an ocean card with the Underwater 3D Embossing Folder as my main product.

I started by taking a piece of watercolor paper and swiping Distress Inks across it.

I sprayed it with quite a bit of water to get the colors to blend then heat set it.

I took the same ink colors and added more layers using an ink blending tool.

I flicked on some plain water and blotted it with a paper towel and ran the piece through the die cutting machine with the embossing folder. Lots of amazing detail!

Using my finger, I took white pigment ink and rubbed it on the raised designs to make them stand out better.

I cut the panel down slightly to leave a border on an A2 card. I die cut the Whittle Fish Trio from silver foil paper and added them with foam adhesive.

I die cut a Word Balloon, trimmed off the tail and stamped the sentiment on it and I added a few Fairy Drops to finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful week!
