Happy Halloween from Jyoti. I had so much fun creating this card using products from the 2024 Spooktacular collection by Poppystamps. Today, I’m sharing a card, which features the adorable Perky Pumpkins Craft Die. This card blends bright pumpkin elements with patterned backgrounds and a touch of dimensional layering. Let’s walk through how I brought this fun, festive design to life!

Adding Depth to the Pumpkins I began by die-cutting three pumpkins from orange cardstock using the Perky Pumpkins Craft Die. To give the pumpkins extra depth and a realistic touch, I added shadows using a darker shade of COPIC marker. This subtle shading gave them dimension, making them stand out without much effort. The three little pumpkins became the perfect focal point for this Halloween card.

Layering the Arched Tags

For the background, I decided to use layered arched tags to frame the pumpkins and hold the sentiment. I cut three tags—one each in white, black, and another in white—each in adjacent sizes to create visual interest. Once layered, these tags became the ideal place to anchor my pumpkins. I stamped the sentiment “Halloween Greetings” from the Bugs and Hisses Stamp Set along the bottom of the smallest tag, adding a playful seasonal message.

Mixing Patterns for the Background

To give my card a warm, cozy feel, I layered two pieces of patterned paper on the background. One was a bold print from my personal stash, while the other was a subtle design from the Memory Box Nutmeg Plaid 6x6 paper pack. The plaid pattern added a rustic touch, perfect for an autumn-inspired Halloween theme. This combination of patterns created depth without overwhelming the card.

Assembling the Final Design

With all my pieces prepared, it was time to put the card together. I adhered the layered arch tags in the center of the background, with the pumpkins sitting neatly on top. To finish the design, I added small star die-cuts in black and orange, tying the entire color palette together. These little details gave the card a festive sparkle and completed the Halloween look.

This playful card came together quickly with just a few thoughtful design choices. The Perky Pumpkins, layered tags, and mixed patterns made it fun and easy to create something festive without too many techniques. I hope this card inspires you to try layering backgrounds and adding dimension with simple shading techniques. Stay tuned for more spooky crafting ideas as Halloween draws near!
