Challenge Reminder - Clean & Simple
by Allison Frazier
Hello Poppystamps friends! I am popping in to remind you that there is still time to play along with this month's challenge! On the first of every month we announce the challenge, and you get most of the month to join us. Just link up your design with an online gallery like Flickr, Splitcoaststampers or Instagram. We select one card that we like best as the monthly winner and then randomly select one entry as the winner of a $20 gift card to the store.
For this month's challenge, our theme is "Clean & Simple." Sounds easy, right? I actually find clean & simple to be a bit challenging at times. Leaving white space can be scary to me! Thankfully, Poppystamps' dies stand on their own so well, that you really don't need to do much to make them shine.
I started my card with the new Nordic Wreath and Bow. I chose three different shades of green card stock for the wreath and two shades of pink card stock for the bow. The layers for the wreath go together very easily. You can either follow the image on the packaging or do the layers a bit differently like I did. There are also different ways that you can put the bow together. I think it's adorable and so sweet. Once I glued the wreath pieces together, I mounted it on one of the circles from the Scallop Pinpoint Rings set and then glued it to a Kraft A2 card base. I then added the scallop ring around the circle. I love how these dies cut the inner circle and outer ring all at once!
Next, I cut the pieces for the bird using the Nordic Bird Bunch set. I used the same two colors of pink that I used on the bow, and I added in some white and a darker pink. I just adore the birds in this set! I finished up my card with the sentiment from the Holiday Banners stamp set, which I cut with the matching die. I heat embossed it on the darker pink color that I used on my bird. I held back on adding any embellishments because...clean & simple!
We can't wait to see what you make for the challenge! You can always find the current monthly challenge by clicking on the Challenge badge in the top right hand column of the blog. Have a great day!
