Using a Die Cut as a Stencil

Hello Poppy Peeps!

The 2574 Scandinavian Snowflake Plate craft die has quickly become my favorite from the Poppystamps 2023 Christmas release — I just can't get enough of it! I've featured it in posts where I've used it as originally intended, such as for the Cool Yule Challenge. Additionally, there have been posts where I've taken a more unconventional approach, like using it for the Sparkling New Year Challenge. Now, I'm excited to share a post where I demonstrate a completely different use for this stunning die – as a stencil!

I started by adhering some washi tape to some thick card stock. Then, I cut a few die cuts from the 2574 Scandinavian Snowflake Plate craft die. The reason I used the washi tape was to get a slick surface off of which I could easily wipe off any ink or texture paste.

I used the washied-diecut to stencil some backgrounds using my favorite Distress Inks. Subsequently, I applied clear texture paste from Ranger, coating the stenciled area with it. Another stenciled area received the same treatment with glitter paste, though I've yet to finalize it into a card. I'll be sure to share it with you when I finish them up.

Upon discovering a section with accidental ink, I opted for a square card instead of the standard A2 size.

Considering I lacked a tag for a gift intended for our thoughtful neighbors, I decided to repurpose it into a tag-card. I punched a hole through the card and threaded some elastic gold thread.

To finish, I cut out multiple joy sentiments, layering them for a chipboard-like texture, topped it off with one using some silver foiled card stock from the Rainbow Reflections Mirror Pad and affixed it to the card. The joy sentiment isn't available anymore, so I've provided a link to a similar sentiment in the supplies list.

And that was it!

Hi Sphoorti, You have created a beautiful CAS card and lovely that you could also use this technique for any background die plate, I love it.
