Challenge Reminder - Spooky Halloween
I wanted to remind you that there's still time to play along with our monthly challenge. You can play along with us by linking to your blog, Instagram or on line gallery. AND.. There's a $20 gift card awarded to a random player every month! I love that I get to see what other people are playing with or what holiday is on their mind.
Halloween is my favorite holiday so I was happy to mix the clean and simple style and get a card made for the upcoming holiday. I have great childhood memories of selecting the costume I wanted, staying out at night.. and right.. can't forget the CANDY!
I started by arranging all the different elements on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card front. This makes it easy for me to decide what goes where before I commit and adhere everything in place, and I can also pick up the entire design to help me select the right color background to coordinate with the images.
I cut the Whittle Tree Border from black cardstock and added colorful green and purple circles to add foliage. I used the Memory Box Basic Circles die set, but any nested circle set will work.
A Whittle Witch and ghosts from the Whittle Creatures set complete the woodland scene. I added Memory Box Gems to create cauldron bubbles and add some sparkle to the trees. I added details to the witch's leggings and cheeks with a marker. I think the little details really help bring the images to life.
The background is Distress Ink in Twisted Citron and Shaded Lilac. I spattered the inky panel with water, some watered down Seedless Preserves and finally some Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed-proof White Ink. Splattering the panel really adds some depth and dimension to the design.
I hope you find some time to play along with the challenge. It's a great way to add a card to your stash, and finger's crossed you just might be the gift certificate winner!
