Birthday Tulips
by Kim Singdahlsen

I am in love with the Layered Tulips in the brand new 2023 February release.  There are three different shapes with three layers on each tulip to easily get amazing dimension.  There are also stems. I know that may seem trivial but a lot of flower sets don't come with stems and I find myself trimming little strips of paper to use. I love that this set has three stems and they all have a nice graceful curve.

I used my favorite trio of reds from the Berry Red cardstock pad. Compared to the other reds in the pad, these have a hint of coral and I love that soft look. To frame them I also cut the largest scallop frame from the previously released Scalloped Stitch Frames.  Then another newly released die is the Birthday Wishes Moonlight Script. There are actually four new sentiments in that same script!

Because there is a lot of black in the black background I used for the "Birthday Wishes", I tied it into the card by doing some black splatters of ink. I don't often splatter because I prefer to have control as to where each card component goes.  But splatter can roughen it up a little and adds realism then as I've done, it connects the black components.  Finally I added five Pastel Jewels to fill in a few open spaces.

I hope I have inspired you to use the Layered Tulips.  We are coming into tulip season so it's a great time to add them to your card. Can you imagine the beautiful colors you can use?! I look forward to seeing what you do.
