Moon Cat
by Tiffany Pryce
Welcome back to the blog! Tiffany here with some inspiration to share for our current challenge for the month - Anything Goes! This challenge theme is perfect because you can make anything you want - go wild! Since I love Halloween and I love all things autumn, I decided to use another new die from the latest release to make a Halloween card.
I used an alcohol ink background that I had in my stash to create this quick card. When I created the background, I used a variety of blue, purple, and metallic alcohol inks. I dropped small amounts of color repeatedly around the panel and blended with alcohol blending solution and added texture with isopropyl alcohol. I really like using a fan brush to splatter isopropyl alcohol because it gives a nice distribution of splatter. I didn't have any black ink, so I decided to take my 100 copic marker (black) to scribble on the edges. It works exactly like a liquid alcohol ink. I spread the black ink with more isopropyl alcohol to darken the edges. I think it looks like an abstract night sky or maybe a galaxy.
Once the panel was dry, I die cut the Cat Collage die from the top center. The die cuts out the moon part, but leaves the cat. I wanted the cat to be a different color so from a piece of glitter paper, I die cut the Cat Collage again. I carefully snipped the cat out (this was very easy to do) and adhered it in place. I love the sparkle against the alcohol ink. Behind the panel, I adhered a piece of matte silver cardstock from the Reflections Mirror paper pad to be the moon. Finally, I matted the entire card front with a piece of black cardstock to "ground" the piece a bit more.
I debated adding a sentiment several times, but in the end, I decided to leave a sentiment off. I almost never create cards without a sentiment on the front, but hey anything goes right?! What do you think? Would you have added a sentiment on the front?
Hope you enjoyed the card and are inspired to join us for the challenge. See all the rules and how to enter on the Poppystamps blog. Until next time, happy crafting!
