Gold Tipped Fall Leaves

I'm utterly smitten with the Fanciful Fall Leaves die set. Today, I decided to show them off against a background of Distress ink.
To make the background, I used Distress inkpads and sprays with the ink smooshing technique on 140lb watercolor paper. I started with a 6" x 7" piece and cut it down to the 4" x 5.25" portion I liked the most.
Since the die cuts themselves have such great etched detail, I began by cutting them from the same watercolor paper.
I took each die cut and rubbed it across an embossing ink pad to coat the tips. For the acorns, I used an embossing ink pen. Then, I dipped the leaves and acorns into gold embossing powder and heat embossed each.
I used a circle punch to cut out a 2.5" circle from a soft blue-green cardstock. Next, I stamped my sentiment from the Gilded Christmas Wishes Stamp set onto brown cardstock with black ink. I used the label die cut that comes with the stamp set to cut out the sentiment.
I made a thread nest using some light brown thread. Finally, I layered it all together beginning with the inky background on top of blue-green cardstock. I placed 3 leaves under my circle and then glued my thread nest on top. I glued together 7 gold-tipped leaves and adhered them to the circle. Next, I adhered the sentiment down over the leaves with foam adhesive. Finally, I added two little acorns onto the sentiment.
Try showing off some of our great etched die shapes with plain light cardstock over an exciting background. Happy crafting!

Hi Janet, I love this !! The inky background is fabulous, the colours are complementary with each other and the die-cuts are divine.
