Stained Glass Butterflies

I absolutely adore butterflies and all the butterfly dies in the new Poppystamps release are at the top of my favorite list!!  First, there is a full background die, the Stained Glass Butterfly Collage. It's gorgeous! In my two cards I used it slightly offset to give it a little different look but it also can be centered and will fill the front.

Then there is the Small Stained Glass Butterfly and Background (which is what I used on the thoughts and prayers card) and also a large version of the same butterfly. They coordinate perfectly with the collage background.

My following card uses the butterfly collage in the upper left corner and then adds the small butterfly to the side. I used three blue gems from the Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones and backed the main butterfly with a light bluish color from the Memory Box Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad.  The sentiment is from the Diamond Sentiments clear stamp set, all of which fit perfectly into the butterfly background.

I added a bit more detail into the second card by putting different colors behind each butterfly.  It was a bit fiddly to do, although probably easier than adding small pieces into each segment of the butterfly (although wouldn't it be glorious to add a variety of colors in each little section!)

I cut the background out of scratch paper. It doesn't matter if it's cut in exactly the same way as the background as you'll see in the second photo. Then I held the scratch paper over my glitter paper and cut around it so that my glitter paper was in the same general shape as that butterfly.

Then I adhered the glitter piece behind my main piece.  You can see parts of the glitter paper are sticking out to the left since there was more of my butterfly on the scratch piece than on the my card. It really doesn't matter because after I did this for each color, I just trimmed around the entire piece.

I love the results. The butterflies are gorgeous and the glitter paper is amazing!  This sentiment on this card also came from Diamond Sentiments. It really shows how these sentiments tuck perfectly into the butterfly collage.

I hope I've given you some ideas for the gorgeous new butterflies. Kim Floral Signature copy
