Your Inner Unicorn
by Janet Katz
The latest releases are here and they are magical! I used both the Whittle Rainbow Unicorn Kit and the Whittle Happy Unicorn die set to make this card. I used one heart and four wings from the Unicorn Kit, and the smaller heart is from Whittle Hearts. The happy unicorn is large, measuring 4" x 4" when put together. Of course, this big guy can be cut from brown and/or black paper and turned into a horse. The wings and horn are separate dies in this set and can be left off if you like.
I started by using a homemade cloud stencil in the background and inking around the edges with alternating colors of Distress ink -- pink and purple. Then I cut out the big unicorn from white cardstock and lightly inked the edge of the unicorn with purple ink and added a little cheek blush with pink ink. I die cut the nose and legs of the big unicorn so I could end up with hooves and a nose from glitter cardstock. I layered these little parts onto the white unicorn. I wanted a selection of pinkish purple papers for the mane so I cut this die out of four different colors of cardstock. I hand cut along the perforated lines in the mane for all four colors, and assembled the 3 bottom colors onto the pink base color. I used this same trick for the tail. I'm glad the perforated look remained when I reassembled the parts.
Next, I cut the wings and the horn from white glitter cardstock. Next I reached for the Whittle Hearts dies and cut 2 small hearts. Then I used the Unicorn Kit heart die and cut out 1 larger heart. I cut out small wings from the Unicorn kit and added them to the hearts. I layered everything onto my pink and purple cloud background, using foam adhesive for the flying hearts. I finished up by adding a few rhinestones and trimming the edges of my scene so I could mount it to a piece of purple cardstock. I added a few gemstones to the hearts. I finished up by adding a stamped sentiment from the Unicorn Kit. This could easily be a birthday card or a Valentine's card. Your choice. (I'm sending it for a March birthday.)
I'll bet there is someone in your life that would like a sweet little (or big) unicorn card, or a stable of horses. You can make all that with these dies. Time to unleash your inner unicorn!

Hi Janet, A stunning card, such a pretty colour choice throughout and the die-cuts are so beautiful and cute, your cloud background is a lovely layer for all the gorgeousness to sit onto.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
