Amazing Unicorn
by Jeanne Jachna
Did you know we have a monthly challenge here at Poppystamps? This month our challenge is called Heart Felt. We're looking for projects that include a heart (maybe a Valentine for your sweetie?) or a bit of felt. If you're feeling really creative you can add BOTH!
If you link up your design your automatically entered to win a $20 gift card to the store. You don't have to have a blog to play along.. you can link up to your Instagram account or any on line gallery. I love seeing the different projects linked up. It's a great way to get ideas for different ways to use your Poppystamps products and to make some new friends!
I'm playing along with a "scene" card where the new Whittle Happy Unicorn is to star of the show. I added lots of details like a double cut mane, a google eye, and a cheeky blush colored in with a marker. The wing is adhered with adhesive foam tape to add a little dimension to the design.
Sometimes designing your layout can be intimidating. I always use a piece of clear plastic the size of my card base to arrange different elements. The clear plastic sheet allows me to slip different colors and designs underneath to help me decide what colors and shapes to use before I commit and adhere everything in place.
I fussy cut some hilly grass from green cardstock and stamped a sentiment from the Whittle Rainbow Unicorn Kit on the bottom edge. Memory Box has ombre card stock pads, glitter and foils too so all your specialty papers are easy to find.
I like to use dies in unexpected ways. On this card the Twinkling Hearts die is cut from yellow cardstock to create a sun. Some bitty clouds are added and the blue sky is debossed using the Confetti Heart Plate.
I hope you find some time to play along with our challenge. There's not much time left! You have until Midnight USEST on Friday to link your design!
