Birthday Fishes
by Kim Singdahlsen
This "birthday fishes" card is to remind you that the challenge this month is "Happy Birthday". Be sure to check it out and play along. It's fun; we all need birthday cards; and there's a prize for a random winner!
When I was thinking about what to do for this challenge, it was at a point that both of my 20+-year old sons had birthdays. The Whittles and the punny sentiments are such a great option for them. I used the Whittle Fish trio and gave them a background with the Whittle Seascape. The sentiment is from the Whittle Sealife Sentiments and I used the Word Balloons to make them stand out.
I gave my glittery fish a little pool of water by cutting the Whittle Seascape out of the middle of a white piece of paper, then also out of a gorgeous blue from the Fresh Aqua pad. I mounted both of them on another piece of the blue. I adhered the fish and the word balloons some straight to the paper and some with dimensional adhesive. Then I used the Clear Fairy Drops for a few bubbles!
Just an FYI if you want to try this - look closely at my third word balloon. I didn't have the right size for the sentiment with the curved part going in the direction of that yellow fish. So I cut the curve off of the balloon that was the right size, then I used one of the balloons with the curve in the correction direction, cut out the curve with enough left above it to adhere behind the first balloon. You can definitely see it - but I'm betting you didn't see it until I pointed it out!
This was such a fun card to create! Of course, every time I get any Whittles out, I have to smile at their sweet faces.
