Hey Poppy peeps! Tiffany here popping in with some more inspiration for you. I think this Cabin Snowglobe die has been a favorite of the design team. It is so versatile and can be used in many ways. Use it as is, interchange the dies, use the dies on other projects - the combinations are endless. I decided to make my snowglobe interactive by turning it into a shaker card! Shakers always put a smile on my face and are perfect for snowy, winter scenes.
Putting this card together was pretty straightforward. I die cut all the pieces like the cabin and the trees from white or glitter cardstock. I used the circle die to cut into the base snowglobe die in order to make a shaker frame. I die cut two frames for stability and then added acetate with liquid glue. I used liquid glue because I did not have double sided tape that was thin enough. Behind the acetate, I added foam tape to ensure none of the shaker bits would fall out. I adhered the scene on top with double sided tape and popped the cabin up for dimension. For the snowglobe base, I die cut it from green cardstock and added some shading on the edges with dye ink.
Inside the shaker card, I lined it with pattern paper from the Madras Plaid Coral and Green paper pack. I used the negative die cut on top for a clear space to write my holiday message. I also stamped a sentiment from the Gilded Christmas Wishes stamp set. Finally, I added some holly leaves and berries to the bottom so help the easel stand upright more easily. Pro tip: Although I managed to forget this step, always glue some shaker pieces onto the background. This is so when the card is upright, there are still shaker pieces visible at the top when all the other pieces fall to the bottom.
What a fun design that was easy to put together! I know the recipient will love adding this card to her holiday decor. Until next time, happy crafting! As a bonus, check out two more versions that I made using the same supplies below.
Hi Tiffany, I love it !! I love snowglobes and I love shaker cards, so this is a card 'made in heaven' for me.
