Winter Greetings
by Tiffany Pryce
Hey everyone! I'm back on the blog sharing how I made this fun, sparkly winter card using products from the newest Poppystamps release. Have you checked it out yet? There are so many gorgeous dies and stamps for all your winter/holiday cardmaking needs!
Do you ever wake up and just feel like you need glitter to brighten your day? When I was looking through my Memory Box paper pads, I was drawn to the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad. It reminded me of an icy storm and I love non-traditional colors, so I thought it would make a perfect wintery background. To start, I trimmed 4 different colors of glitter paper into 1/4 inch strips. I adhered the strips onto an A2 piece of paper with tape runner. Stripes always make for a clean and simple background. You could change up the colors or even use scraps of pattern paper to switch up the look.
After creating my background, I worked on die cutting the Diamond Snowflake Oval Frame. I die cut the frame twice from white cardstock and stacked them together for dimension. With a fine frame like this, I like to use spray adhesive because it is easier than adding drops of liquid glue everywhere. To the centers of the snowflakes, I added Fairy Sugar Glitter Glue in Dewdrop to tie in more sparkle.
To create the oval for my sentiment, I used the new Basic Ovals die set. I chose an oval that was smaller than the opening because I wanted the stripes to peek through. Using the same size oval die, I also die cut fun foam to add behind for dimension. I stamped a sentiment from the Wintertime Sentiments stamp set in gray ink and adhered the oval to the center of the frame.
To embellish the card, I wanted a few snowflakes. Because I did not have any stand alone Poppystamps snowflake dies, I improvised. I die cut the Snowflake Corner Frame die from white cardstock and carefully trimmed out three snowflakes. I added a little light blue dye ink on the edges to help the snowflakes stand out. Finally, I added more Dewdrop glitter glue to the snowflake centers.
Hope you enjoyed the card; thanks for stopping by!
