Two Poinsettias
by Kim Singdahlsen
The brand new holiday release includes the gorgeous Poinsettia Background die. It can cover the entire card front, but I used it in a couple of different ways.
My first card in pinks and reds offsets it a little to the upper left. It gives it a unique look and also leaves space in the bottom corner for a sentiment.
I used the Memory Box Berry Red cardstock pad and picked three different red/pinks to cut my flowers and then the Lush Green pad for my leaves. I added some shimmer paint to the petals and then I used Memory Box Fairy Drops for the centers. This all left room for the sentiment in the bottom left. The sentiment set is also brand new - it's the Gilded Christmas Wishes stamp and die set. It's full of classic Christmas sentiments with frames around them, all in various shapes and coordinating dies. It's a classic must-have set!
I actually planned this card with glitter white cardstock for the Poinsettia Background. I cut it and added dots of adhesive on the back at which time a cat jumped onto my table and got it stuck to himself. By the time I chased him down and pulled it off (with more than little fur), the poor poinsettia background was ripped (and very furry). Even more sadly, I didn't have another big enough piece of white glitter even though multiple Memory Box pads have white glitter.
I tell you all of this because it was the genesis of my next card. I didn't have the white glitter frame but I did have all of the little pieces that came out of each petal and I was not going to let those go to waste!!
I cut the background using black. I adhered just the edge of it to the card (the two left poinsettias and all of the leaves that are showing). With the pieces I had left, I added bit of two poinsettias at the top and the bottom. Then I used my white glitter petals in the poinsettias. I didn't do the leaves in white glitter simply because I liked the way that the poinsettias popped. The sentiment is from the new Peaceful Christmas Greetings. Each sentiment is beautiful - both in meaning and in the lovely mix of fonts. To add just a pop of color I added red gems as berries and a sprinkling of gold gems.
This is a beautiful background to work with. Whether it is pink or black and white, it has enough detail in it that it's all you need for your sentiment!

Very Beautiful! TFS
Hi Kim, Gorgeous !! I had to laugh at your cat running off with your card stuck to him, it reminded me of my cat Lizzie. I love the slightly monochrome card with the little pop of colour with the berries, I love it !!
Lots of love from Patricia xx
Beautiful poinsettia cards!
I have a kitty helper too!
Absolutely love both cards, Kim! You're making me want all the products you used! Love the cat story, too!
