Snowflake Christmas
by Kim Singdahlsen
Sparkle and snowflakes!! It's a wonderful way to say "Merry Christmas". And the new Snowflake Corner Frame is a fabulous way to make quick and easy cards.
Instead of adding sparkle to the snowflakes, I decided to add sparkle behind the snowflakes. The beautiful glitter papers in the Memory Box Glitzy Glitter pad have a gorgeous, almost holographic, look to them. The sparkle has flashes of multiple other colors besides the main color. Then when I couldn't decide which I wanted to use, I figured four stripes let me use a variety!
I find it easiest to create my stripes on a separate piece of paper, then trim it down to the size that fits behind the frame. I use a scrap of lightweight paper - even copy paper. I cut it slightly bigger than the size I need - in this case 4" tall was just right and it had the added advantage that each stripe was a nice even 1" wide. Then I trim the sides to fit and adhere the frame on top.
To add shine to the snowflakes I used the Memory Box Winter Fantasy Fairy Gemstones. They have a beautiful glow to them and a range of five colors - from clear to blues to purples - so I added one of each to my snowflakes.
Freestyle Merry Christmas works perfectly in the open space.
I do love white space - but even with all of the sparkle and snowflakes, the card seemed a little flat. I tried various frames but then look at embossing folders. The Memory Box Geometric Crystals 3D folder had the look I wanted but I didn't want it to overwhelm the rest. It turns out when I trimmed it down that the Snowflake Corner Frame fits perfectly within a row of squares on all side!
I hope the sparkle and snowflakes have inspired you!

The snowflakes really pop against the rich glitter papers, thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Kim, I love how the embossing folder has 'framed' the snowflake corner frame die, genius !! I love it.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
