by Jeanne Jachna

Leafy Garden Border-Poppystamps-Jeanne Jachna-CU1

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm reminding you that there's still time to join us for our July Challenge.  On the first of every month Poppystamps announces a new challenge - this month - July 2021 we want you to "Just Add Water".

2021-07

We're asking you to create a design that includes water.. that could be (but is not limited to) watercolor, a splash of water over some distress ink,  maybe your favorite spritz spray!!!  Not feeling like getting messy?  How about a rainy day scene, or a seascape?  All types of projects are welcome from tags and treat wraps to cards and home decor!   It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!

My card starts with a Distress Oxide panel of paper.  I inked it with Twisted Citron, Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar.  I like to use cosmetic brushes for a clean look.  You can find different sized brushes on Amazon.   Distress Oxide Ink stays wet longer so you have more time to blend too.    Next I splashed the panel with water and some watered down white ink. When it was dry I trimmed the panel so that it's slightly smaller than my card base and adhered it to the card.

Next I cut the Leafy Garden Border from white card stock twice.  I trimmed them with about 1/4" along their outer edges and adhered them to either side of my inky panel.   I topped the panel with a Luscious Script Hello.  The background is cut from gold foil and the detailed word die is cut from white card stock.

Intricate Cut Butterflies are also double cut - once from gold glitter paper and once from card stock .  They're stacked and the top butterfly wings are bendable to add dimension.  Gold sequins add a finishing touch and a little more bling.

This angle photo shows that the sentiment and butterflies are adhered with adhesive foam tape to add dimension and a richer look to the design.

I hope I inspired you to dig out your distress inks and give them a little splash of water - how about some smooshing?  Either way you're still able to enter our challenge.  Just snap a photo of your completed project with your cell phone, add it to your Instagram and link up to there!   We can't wait to see what you make!
