Art Deco Joy
by Sue McRae
Hello crafters! Sue here with a card using products from the new Summer Theater release which has quite a few beautiful art deco dies.
I’m using the Geometric Deco Plate. It is actually two dies that can create several different looks. If you use both dies together you will end up with 4 die cut pieces. I used 3 of the 4 die cuts on my card.
I really wanted the art deco design to be the star so I decided to make a colourful background for it using Alcohol Pearl Inks. I squeezed a bunch of rainbow goodness colours onto Yupo paper and moved the alcohol ink around with a blower. I got a lot of pretty ridges and ripples for some great texture.
I adhered the art deco panel onto the inky background and then die cut the panel 3 more times so I could get four layers of some of the inner sections. I wanted to layer up the square pieces from the design and glue them back into place.
I used one of the sentiments from the new Art Deco Birthday Greetings and heat embossed it in platinum embossing powder. I popped this up with foam tape and added a few gems for a little more sparkle.
You can see in this photo that there’s a variety of heights on the card and this makes the card more visually pleasing.
Thanks for visiting with me today and make sure to stop by the shop here to see the new release.
