Summer Solstice: Blue Skies
by Kim Singdahlsen
This month's challenge is Summer Solstice.
With the theme in mind, I actually started with the sentiment. The idea of "nothing but blue skies" seemed like a perfect summer sentiment. Then I knew I needed to create a scene that actually had blue skies and a bright sun. I tried a few various directions at that point, but I loved the pop of a pink flamingo!
Besides some Whittle Sunshine, I gave my Whittle Flamingo a beach scene. I used a piece of Memory Box Kraft Woodgrain for the texture. Then I used some glitter paper which I cut with the Whittle Wave Background. The background is actually a larger piece but the waves are cut so I was able to clip the sides to get just a single line of waves. All the elements of my scene were fairly small so I focused on them by putting them in a window the Memory Box Double Stitch Rectangle Cut Out.
This was a very fun scene to create! It is a clean and simple and very summer-fresh card but there are lots of fun details - starting, of course, with the fabulous dies! But then some glitter and sandy texture and a few fairy drops for sun spots!
I hope to see you play along with us this month. There are so many directions to take the theme of Summer Solstice - I look forward to seeing what you create!

Hi Kim, This card is beautiful, it is like you are giving us a sneak peek through the window to the ocean and all it has to show us. I love it.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
