Hip Hippo Happiness
by Tiffany Pryce
Hi everyone! Tiffany here with more Whittles inspiration. I can't help but smile at all of the adorable Whittle dies and the punny sentiment stamps that coordinate perfectly. This card is dedicated to my favorite hippos at the Cincinnati Zoo - Fiona and mom, Bibi! They are such a funny pair, and I've loved watching countless videos of them love zooming around their enclosure, diving into the pool, and making waves.
In keeping with the theme of my card, I did some watercolor technique to make my background. Using a variety of blue distress inks, I ink smooshed a piece of watercolor paper. I smooshed the ink pad on a leftover piece of plastic wrapping, spritzed with water, and carefully flipped over the plastic on top of the watercolor paper. I did this several times and dried in-between layers for varying intensities of blue color. After I was done with the blue ink, I splattered silver metallic watercolor all over the panel for a bit of shine.
I die cut the Whittle Wave Background from a panel I created using pigment powder. Have you tried pigment powder yet? You just sprinkle a little bit of powder on watercolor paper and spritz with water to spread the pigment around. It's so magical how the color bursts to life with the water. I added wave details with a white paint pen.
I die cut my hippos twice for dimension and I die cut "Fiona's" inner tube five times for even more dimension. She looks so sassy with her cute, yellow inner tube, which is totally her personality. I added some final details with the whittle clouds and a coordinating sentiment heat embossed in silver. Hope these two hippos bring you a little joy today!
