Hey crafters! Tiffany here with a new card using dies from the latest release called Whittle Wonders. I love mixing and matching new and previously released Poppystamps dies, and I appreciate that they coordinate beautifully. I chose to create a cute and simple birthday card with the Whittle dogs.
I started by creating my card base and background layer. I adhered a piece of pattern paper, that I trimmed to an A2 size, to my card base. Then I adhered a 5 x 3.75 inch piece of cream, woodgrain cardstock with a foam sheet. I love foam sheets because they are sturdier and more even than using strips of foam tape. I think foam sheets helped to step up the quality of my cards.
Next, I die cut all my card elements multiple times. I die cut each dog twice from white cardstock and once from colored cardstock. I added some quick shading with Copic markers.
I die cut the sentiment three times from white cardstock. For the top layer of the sentiment and the bow, I created my own cardstock. I used products from the new distress ink color, salvaged patina. First, I sprayed distress oxide spray on white cardstock and dried it with my heat tool. Next, I smooshed clear embossing ink and sprinkled with salvaged patina embossing glaze. The embossing glaze is different from embossing powder because it is translucent, so you can see the speckled texture from the spray. I loved the addition of a contrasting color and shine from the glaze. The dog collars were made from small scraps of the same cardstock.
To finish my card, I wrapped gold twine from my stash around each dog and attached the strings to the sentiment. It looks like they are carrying a balloon that says 'birthday', and I think it is so cute! Lastly, I stamped an interior sentiment from the Whittle Everyday clear stamp set - "Have Fun You Party Animal". I think this card design can easily be personalized to the recipient, can work for both men and women, and is easy to mass produce. Win-win!
I hope you are inspired to check out the latest release. Happy crafting!
