Love and Floral Stems
by Kim Singdahlsen
It's the month of love!! I already have all of my Valentines made so today's card is a "love" card but not in classic reds and pinks. I'm still regularly sending cards to a wide variety of friends and family who need to social distance. Sending love is so important right now and I think this cheerful flower and little hummingbird are just perfect for the message.
As always, I love dimension! I popped the sentiment just a bit, then I popped the hummingbird even more. I was also excited to see that the sentiment tucked in to the grasses perfectly.
And, of course, the flower comes in with built-in dimension. If I haven't hidden the die too much with the extra hummingbirds, you can see that the base flower is part of the frame but there's an extra top flower. It can line up exactly with the base flower if you just want to add a layer or a different color. I angled it a bit then slightly bent up the petals.
The top flower has beautiful etched details. I love dies with details. In this case, the etched flower and the grasses (including the scrolled piece) are fabulous all by themselves. The hummingbird has a beautiful shape. I didn't have color them or do anything extra. This card came together quickly and easily because I just added a subtle pattern behind the die cuts and these gorgeous dies add all of the details.
