Challenge Reminder
by Candice Crawford

Hi Everyone! Candice on the blog today to remind you of our monthly blog challenge. On the first of the month, a new Poppystamps Challenge is announced with a central theme. Each Wednesday throughout the month, members of the design team will provide samples of inspiration, for you to play along for a chance to win a prize.

2021-01

This month's central theme is Monochrome. Monochrome is defined as a project created in shades of black and white or in varying tones of one color.  To participate in this month's challenge keep it simple by creating in shades of black white and grey or in ombre shades of any color you like.   You can choose any occasion or event - all types of projects welcome including but not limited to cards, page layouts, tags, gifts, home decor and more!   It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!

For my challenge project, I created a very simple black and white monochrome card using scraps of black and white cardstock from my stash along with the Memory Box stamp set Peony Garden Corner. To begin, I randomly stamped the leaf cluster image onto a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 inch of white cardstock in onyx black versafine ink to create by own patterned paper.

For added interest, I placed small black dots in between the leaf images of the pattern using a black Sharpie marker.

Next I cut 4 strips of black cardstock into the varying sizes of 1 inch, 1/2 inch, .25 inch and .75 inch and adhered them to a 4.5 x 3.25 inch of white cardstock where I first cut and adhered the stitch rectangle border to the white cardstock piece.

Then I stamped the sentiment hello from the stamp set on the 4.5 x 3.25 inch piece of cardstock and adhered it the leaf image stamped background with some 3M form tape.  Lastly I stamped a portion of the Peony Garden Border image onto a piece of scrap white cardstock with Versafine onyx black ink using my Misti Stamping too.

Then I die cut the single floral image and leaf with a medium circle die from my stash. I adhered the flower image to my card with some 3M form tape for added dimension. To finish the card I added a few crystal clear Nuvo Drops.

Want to play?

The rules are simple - just create a project following the theme, use at least one Poppystamps image or die, and link it up here.  The design we love best will receive our winner badge to proudly display on their blog, and one lucky random winner will receive a prize.  You don't have to have a blog to play.  You can link to any online gallery.   In fairness to other players, we reserve the right to remove entries that do not use at least one Poppystamps image.   We ask that you link a maximum of  3 entries to each challenge.   You are welcome to link your design to other challenges.  Grab our badge to post on your blog post or sidebar!

Now it's your turn!  Need a little more motivation? How about a prize?  The winner (chosen at random) of this challenge will receive a $20 Gift Certificate to spend on their favorites from the Poppystamps store!

You have until 12 am US EST on January 27 to link up your design here!  We'll start a new challenge and announce the winners on February 1.

Thanks for joining us!  We can't wait to see what you make!
