Masculine Christmas
by Sue McRae
Happy Tuesday crafters! Sue her with a clean and simple masculine Christmas card.
I find it tough to make masculine cards for any occasion and that includes Christmas so I thought I would really try to create a project that was understated, maybe a bit elegant and be appropriate for a guy for the holiday season.
My starting point was the patterned paper. There’s nothing like a good plaid design to give a card a masculine feel. I chose a pattern that has grey, red, cream and gold from the Christmas Plaid Paper Pad.
I then decided a wreath (which is good for any celebration) done in a simple white would be the focal point of the card.
I took the Adriana Wreath and used that as the base of the design. Then I die cut a lot of leaves from the Orchard Leaves set and began layering and filling in on top of the Adriana Wreath until I was happy with the fullness and shape.
For a festive touch I added gold gems (no sparkle on these) and to create a bit of a frosty look I added Diamond Dust randomly on the leaves with liquid adhesive. It adds a wonderful icy look when it catches the light.
The sentiment was stamped on grey cardstock and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
That is it for my card. I really do like how this turned out. Not my usual colour palette but experimenting with styles and colours outside of our comfort zone is great for improving on our crafty skills.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and enjoy your week!

Hi Sue, Such an 'understated' card but so very 'elegant'. The tartan patterned background paper is divine, and the Adriana Wreath and leaves are a beautiful focal point and the gems complete this card perfectly.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
the combination of your selected dies in white against the beautiful plaid paper, the many sequins on the wreath and touches of "frost" on the leaves, as well as the embossed sentiment -- all make an exquisite card design. I am now looking through all of my Adriana MB dies. Merry Christmas wishes to you.
Fabulous, love the plaid with the white wreath, and the gems are a great touch!
