Hello Crafty Friends!

Thanks for swinging on over to the Poppystamps blog today! I am sharing a bright and bold holiday card today, created with the new Holly Background! Take a look!

This Holly Background die has been super popular with our design team! We all have our little touches to make this personal and unique, and you get to see just how versatile this pretty die really is. I started with a light grey background panel cut with the Wrapped Stitched rectangle from Memory Box. I then added the Holly Background cut in a nice thick white cardstock.

To create the inlay pieces for the Holly leaves and berries, I made two panels with bright, vivid alcohol ink and YUPO paper. I just used shades of green and red in big drops to create the panels from which I cut out the red berries and green leaves.

Once the alcohol ink had dried, I cut out the red berries and adhered them to my card base with a pair of craft tweezers.

Once the berries were in place, I cut the Holly background again in green, and carefully placed the pieces like a little holiday puzzle. I love how bright and bold the alcohol ink holiday colors stand out against the light grey.

I love the sharp, clean lines and bright color of this! I think I'm going to make a few more and even play around with a few non-traditional holiday colors too! When I first planned out my design, I was originally going to add one of our big holiday words on the bottom, such as JOY, or Noel. But once the bright YUPO pieces were in place, I wanted to leave it just as it is, fresh and modern and cheerful.

Thanks so much for dropping by today! There's always something new and fresh on our blog! Come by every day for great ideas and inspiration!
