May Challenge Reminder
by Candice Crawford

Hello Crafty Friends,

It is Candice here, reminding you about our May Challenge, Winged Things.

Want to play along?

The rules are simple - just create a project following the theme, Winged Things, use at least one Poppystamps image or die, and link it up here.  The design we love best will receive our winner badge to proudly display on their blog, and one lucky random winner will receive a prize.  You don't have to have a blog to play.  You can link to any online gallery.   In fairness to other players, we reserve the right to remove entries that do not use at least one Poppystamps image.   We ask that you link a maximum of  3 entries to each challenge.   You are welcome to link your design to other challenges.  Grab our badge to post on your blog post or sidebar!

For today's card, I used a sentiment from the Autumn Leaves stamp set the focal image form the Butterfly Wings stamp set. The Butterfly Wings stamp set, is a large 5.5 x 5.5 inch background stamp where the outline butterfly images can be colored with markers or colored pencils. The set also comes with a set of sentiments, perfect for greetings on your card.

May Challenge Post 4

To make this card, I stamped the background image with my Hero Arts Intense Black ink onto a 6x6 inch piece of white card stock, using my Misti Stamping. Since this image is large, I wanted to ensure I got a crisp solid outline image of the butterflies. Therefore, I had to stamp the image a couple of times to get a clean image. Next I trimmed the background to a 1.75 x 5.5 inch strip.

Next I colored each of the butterflies with my Distress Markers in Spice Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Rusty Hinge. I used a little bit of shading on each of the butterflies to create depth and dimension. Photo1

Next I took a light blue colored pencil from my stash and colored in the background.

To assemble the card, I first grabbed a piece of black card stock from my stash and trimmed it to 1.25 x 5.5 inches. I then adhered the black card stock trip to my colored colored butterfly panel with some tape runner adhesive. I then adhered this piece to my card base with some liquid adhesive. Next I stamped the sentiment from the Autumn Leaves stamp set onto the white card base with my Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Lastly I fussy cut a yellow colored butterfly from the remaining background piece and adhered it to the card with liquid adhesive just below the sentiment. There you have it. A simple almost one layer card made from a background stamp. I hope you enjoyed todays's card share and got a bit of inspiration!

Until next time, happy crafting!
