Gilded Wreath
by Sue McRae
Hello crafters! Today I have a quick and simple card using gilding flakes.
I love a good wreath die because it can be used for so many occasions throughout the year as well as for masculine or feminine cards. The new Adriana Wreath is wonderful with its mix of leaves and berries.
First I die cut the wreath from paper that has double sided adhesive on it and also die cut it from two different weights of vellum which will be layered underneath the gilded wreath.
Then I peeled off the liner and added my gold gilding flakes onto the sticky paper and burnished it on. I love the elegance of gilding flakes, it really is softer and less shiny than foil and adds a richness to your projects. I have about 6 different solid and mixed colours of the gilding flakes and use them throughout the year.
I took the Serene Mandala Embossing Folder (this is such a beauty) and embossed a piece of blue striped patterned paper from the Springtime Bouquet Stripes and Dots, this will be the background for the wreath.
Next was just to assemble the card with the vellum wreaths adhered to the embossed panel and the gilded wreath on top. I offset all the wreaths to add some more dimension to them.
I added a simple sentiment and finished off with a few smooth gems.
I hope you give gilding flakes a try, it adds a wonderful metallic touch to projects.
Happy crafting!

Hi Sue, Gorgeous, truly gorgeous !! I love this Adriana Wreath and here you have 'showcased' it with vellum and also gilding flakes, the colours and the die-cuts are gorgeous, I love it. I haven't used my gilding flakes for quite a while now, after seeing this I will be getting them back out again, thank you for the reminder.
