Shake It Up! by Sue McRae

Hello everyone, Sue here with a Christmas shaker card!

Who doesn't love getting a fun shaker card, I know I do, but it's also fun to make them! I used the new Snowglobe Kit which makes it so easy to put together.

I started off my die cutting all my pieces. I used some patterned paper from Memory Box for the trees, wood grain card stock for the snow drifts, wood paper for the moose and base of the snow globe.

The background piece is navy card stock but I wanted to make the edges darker and used Distress Ink to achieve this.

After adhering all my pieces down I added small star sequins to the night sky and I have my acetate piece ready with the double layer of foam adhesive. A little tip, when you're adding foam adhesive to a curved item peel the paper backing off both sides of the foam, it will be so much easier to bend it around the circle.

Now I've added my iridescent mica flakes on top of the snow globe piece and will place the acetate window piece over this. I find it much easier to do it this way than adding the shaker elements inside the window and trying to centre the snow globe piece on top.

For the card background I used a piece of patterned paper with Twas the Night Before Christmas text and added a Double Stitch Rectangle Frame along with the the snow globe and base.

I've only done shaker cards with precut card stock and acetate ready made forms. Thanks for your good advice. It makes me ready to try with the snow globe set I recently purchased!

Hi Sue, My favourite style of card, I love 'shaker' cards, my favourite Christmas text 'Twas the Night', one of my favourite 'Whittles' the Moose, one of my favourites the 'snow globe'. I love, love, love this card.
