Hello Crafty Friends!
I am so glad that you have stopped by today to take a look at my sweet little card. Santa is getting ready to go out in a dark and stormy night, and his little kitty is worried.
"Don't worry, Kitty," Santa reassures him, "I'll be home soon."
I love the sweet thoughts behind this card, and I wanted to make the design very simple, yet very pretty too. Originally I planned to make a shaker card with sequins in the window, but as it evolved I like the idea of the look of soft light behind the window instead for a warm look and feel.
I started out by cutting two windows from the Cottage Window, the Whittle Santa Face, and the Peek a Boo Kitty. I glued Santa and Kitty to the window frame, and then I glued a piece of clear acetate to the back of my characters. In reality, Santa and Kitty would be behind the window, but putting the in front makes them a little brighter and gives the card a little texture and dimension.
I cut my card base panel in royal blue, and then used a piece of Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape from Poppystamps to cover my entire piece of blue paper. This tape is SO wide and sticky! I pressed it down and then smoothed it all with my teflon bone folder, which gave the entire card a smooth look and feel. I really just wanted the window and my characters to be the focus of my card. I cut the Cottage Window from my base panel after taping it down with blue painter's tape.
The "light" was created by gluing a small square of yellow vellum paper onto my white card stock card base, then gluing the blue snowflake filed, the cottage window with my characters and acetate already adhered, and finished off the design with a few tiny Splendid Stitched Hearts.
Thanks so much for joining us today! Have a wonderful holiday!
