Hello Everyone! We are showcasing the halloween/fall release in this Blog Blitz and have I got a fun spooktacular card for you today! You may want to get a warm cuppa and get cozy, because this has lots of details!

Poppy how to

I had this scene in my head and so I planned out where I wanted everything. This finished card is 5x7 inches to fit everything in. I die cut the Magical cauldron, because I wanted the steam parts to show. I placed the cauldron back in, securing it on the back, and also added a tiny piece of gold cardstock behind the holes. I ink blended the panel with Twisted citron, Spiced marmelade, Seedless preserved and Black soot Distress oxide inks. I also diluted a drop of gold acrylic paint with a little water and splattered it over the cauldron.

I had watched a video of a pull tab technique and decided it could be done without the dies. So I created the pull tab out of black cardstock and cut a narrow strip out of the panel. Make sure you first place your elements and test placement before cutting.

Pulling the pull tab "arms" through the slot and - again - testing placement, I could mark the pull tab with a pencil to cut off the excess so it wont show on the finished card. Pull the arms back out, cut with your scissors and reposition arms and surprise element. I was placing the Happy Jack O Lantern over the Scary ghost. Since the ghost wasn't quite covered I cut it to size. When placing the Jack o lantern I popped it up with foam squares, making sure they wouldn't be in the way of the ghost going up and down. With a strip of cardstock I secured the pull tab on the back. Also, when adding craft foam to the back I made sure it didn't colide with the pull tab.

I colored all the die cut elements with Copics, giving them the look of a glow on the one side. This is the Spellcaster witch, how cool is she!

Here I've used the Friendly cat and the smaller pumpkins are from the Pumpkin Patch Sidekick frame. I also wanted the cat to have a little cauldron-glow and the eyes are made with a gold pen. The sentiment from the Halloween Fun stamp set is heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

So here's the card showing the surprise ghost. I let the pull tab stick out from the top of card, looking like a tombstone that rises when the ghost appeares. On the top of the tab I wrote PULL with a gold pen.

And guess what! I couldn't help myself from throwing in a little extra fun, so I heat embossed the ghost with a glow-in-the-dark embossing powder. I think it looks so cool!

So much fun right?
