CAS Thank You Card with Video Tutorial
by Nadine Carlier

Thank You Card by Nadine Carlier

Hello! Nadine here today with a CAS thank you card that I made. For me making a CAS (clean and simple) card is challenging for me. I always want to keep adding more to it. So I had to force myself to stop.
For the flowers I used the Tall Sketch Daisies dies.

For the frame, I used the Pointed Rectangle Frame die and for the thank you sentiment I used a stamp from the Art Deco You Are Wonderful stamp set.

See you next time! Until then, happy crafting!

No Frame Shaker Card
by Olga Direktorenko

Hi fellow cardmakers, hope you are doing great!

You know how much I love cold tones and well as neutrals but it has been so hot lately I could resist using some fiery tones! I used my much loved dies from Whittle series as well as some plain circles.

Have you noticed that the shaker frame has no "frame" on one side? That's a super fun and easy technique, a rare one but definitely deserving more attention! I'll have a video tutorial on that - coming soon!

Alcohol Inks
by Marybeth Lopez

Fullsizeoutput_2aab

Hi there, friends of Poppystamps Marybeth here again with one of my favorite dies from Poppystamps : Garden Poppy Stitched Frame. This time I used it with one of the many alcohol ink papers I made a while ago . I made so many and wasn't sure if I like them but so happy I kept them all. As you can see below with this frame die I can be selective of what part of the paper I want to use.
IMG_2242

I sort of see the gold as grass in the wind , red as hills of poppies, and sky blue. I layered the center frame two times then added to the center .The back of the panel has fun foam to rise it off the blue base .

I've posted in the past a link to see how this is done , but you have many ways and choices of seeing videos on how to use alcohol inks.

I like how this one die, can look so different just by changing a few things. I used watercolor paper called Masters Touch ( any will do) for the white panel.

Take care and thanks for the visit.

Sweet Summer Thoughts
by Michele K. Henderson

IMG_6214-wm

Hello Friends!

We are so happy you could drop by! Today I am sharing a card that reminds me of the rich colors of a long, hot summer! This sweet little Whittle Mouse is keeping cool under the petals of the Delightful Daisies. It just feels like a warm, summer day!

IMG_6211-wm

This summer card is easy breezy to make too! Just cut out a few Delightful Daisies in a deep orange, add rusty brown centers, a Stitched Fluttering Butterfly, and out friend, the Whittle Mouse. It makes an adorable summer scene!

Distress Oxide Inks Emboss Resist
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0240

Hey there! I haven't done emboss resist in a while and thought it would be fun to create a bright background with Poppystamps Picnic Plaid.

Let's start with the finished card.

DSC_0238_wm

The Cardstock with the plaid was originally white. Take a look.

DSC_0222

To begin I inked the white cardstock with 3 shades of Distress Oxide Inks; Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass, and Picked Pistachio. You don't have to do a perfect job, just make sure to ink it down well.

DSC_0228

Next the dried inked surface is stamped with Versamark. I used my misti, and gave it 2 stamps for better coverage. Then sprinkled all over with clear embossing powder, and heat set it.

DSC_0232

Finally, a darker ink is applied, and the colors used originally show through. Isn't that neat? This is a great stamp to use, as there's plenty of solid, nearly solid and open areas to show lots of color.

DSC_0236

Speaking of great things to use, Poppy's Garden Poppy Sidekick Frame & Stencil, frames my Picnic Plaid, and gives me a chance to stencil on ink colors that blend with my background.

DSC_0246

I did 2 cards using this technique, and added the Blooming Poppy die inked the same as the frame poppies. Look closely to see the sentiment is white embossed on a vellum window. I thought it needed a bit of muting so the message would standout better. Sentiments from Picnic Plaid and Flower Garden.

I hope you give this technique a try, whether you've done it before or not, it really gives a great colorful dimension to a card.

Have a great weekend and happy crafting!

Beautiful Poppystamps Frames
by Jeanne Jachna

Daisy-Frame-Six
Jeanne here today!  Thanks for stopping by!  We're waiting for a new release to hit any day!  In the meantime I'm playing with some old favorites using a technique that I just can't get enough of.   This is my #1 go to when coloring a large background die.

Daisy-Frame-Five
Isn't this look gorgeous?  And it's so easy to achieve!    Do you ever have a die that just doesn't cut unless you have a metal shim under it?  Most of my intricate background dies are like this.  That is ok because for this technique you want the first layer to be complete.. with no cut out pieces removed.  Another way to get a die cut to not cut all the way through is to apply packing tape - you know ...  the rolls you buy to close boxes or packages, to the back of your cardstock panel before you cut it.
Daisy-Frame
The die cut outline is perfect for showing you where to color.  I use Copic markers (because I color ALOT and they are refillable), but you can use any coloring media you like - pencils, maker, even watercolor.

Daisy-Frame-One
You don't have to worry about staying in the lines just make sure each area is colored completely.
Daisy-Frame-Three
When you're happy with the coloring, cut the die a second time and adhere it over the panel you colored.  To give the panel a finished look I adhered a Pointed Squares Frame over the assembled panel before adhering it to my card base.
Daisy-Frame-Two
I saved both of the die cut center circles from the die cut.  One I adhered inside the open window of the frame.  The second I stamped with a sentiment from the Springtime Greetings Stamp Set.   I adhered the circle with the stamped sentiment with adhesive foam tape so it' is raised from the colored design.
Rose-Frame-Two
I was so happy with how the finished card looked that I decided to do a second card with the Rose Frame die.
Rose-Frame-One
I hope you will revisit some of your favorite background dies using this technique.  You'll be so happy you did when you see the gorgeous results!

Challenge Reminder: Animal Kingdom
by Nancy Penir

DSC_0003

Hi there! Are you playing along with the Poppystamps Challenge? This month it's an Animal Kingdom theme. I love all animals, especially farm animals. We raise chickens for their eggs and ducks, just cuz they make great pets. Believe me if some critter enters our yard, they sound the alarm! My reminder card features Poppy's Whittle ducks.

DSC_0008_wm

I love playing around with all the fun alcohol inks, water color backgrounds and embossing folders for dramatic textural settings, and on this card I chose an already made watery background made with Lindy's stamp gang's Magicals in blues and greens. A perfect setting for my duck family.

The stripes were made with my scoring tool.

DSC_0205

The 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" background was scored on 2 sides at 1/4" lines. I turned the card over so the lines would pop outward.

DSC_0005

I used The Delicate Branch Collage Die to frame the ducks. And since I'm always in need of birthday cards, I chose the Doodle Happy Birthday for my sentiment.

I know if you're an animal lover like me, you have lots of critters in your stash. Create a card or a project and play along for a chance to win!

Hope you're having a wonderful summer. Happy Crafting!

A Little Christmas In July
by Marybeth Lopez

Fullsizeoutput_2a8d

Hello , Marybeth here today with a Little Christmas In July . I don't think I ever had a chance to use this gorgeous Poinsettia Delight set from Poppystamps until now, boy do I love it.

I also used Poppystamps clear stamp set called Christmastime.

Using these clear    jewel beads I decided to adhere them to the card upside down.... for some reason they were way more shinny... I think it only works with clear jewels .

Fullsizeoutput_2a91

I was just going to post this for fun so I didn't get any how to photos.  When I realized all my stamps and dies are from Poppystamps I decided to post here on the blog to share.

I did get a photo of the products I used .  I used all white paper for my blooms... all the color came from ink blending with these amazing brushes ( if you don't have any, you can also use make-up brushes)

Fullsizeoutput_2a92

I added a bit of shimmer to the finished bloom and some yellow drops to the center. At first I added gold drops to the center and they all ran together , I made the decision to take off the gold drops( while still wet) with thin paper and it worked!!!! I then added Nuvo  yellow drops. Got lucky there :)

I hope this card will inspire you to make a few Christmas cards early when things aren't so hectic the closer we get to Christmas ( that would be me)

Thank you for stopping by and thank you for all the sweet comments on my past post. Hugs to you all.
