Poppy Hello
by Jeanne Jachna

Red-Poppies-Five

Jeanne here today!  I hope your week is off to a good start!  Today I'm sharing a card I made with the Garden Poppy Sidekick Frame.   The design team has shared different ways to color this die using watercolor, distress inks and markers.  I personally don't color dies too often because I worry about keeping the lines clean and crisp and I dont always stay in the lines.
Red-Poppies-Four
I thought I'd share how I got this clean look without having to worry about having a steady hand.
Red-Poppies
I started by cutting the frames from white card stock.  Next I inked up the flowers with Copic Markers.  I didn't worry about keeping the ink on just the flower, or off the frame.  I used two shades for the orange/red flowers, and three shades for the green stems and leaves.

Next I cut the dies again from white card stock and snipped off the florals between the lines of the frame.  My first attempt was using a ruler and razor.  It looked very choppy and I was disappointed.  I found using a simple pair of scissors worked even easier and looked cleaner when I was done.
Red-Poppies-Two
And finally I made an ombre blue background from three shades of distress ink (Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch).  I used a Yoseng make up brush (from Amazon) to get a line free blending of ink.

Now to assemble all the pieces!

1.  Attached the distress ink background to the card base.
2. Attach the COLORED Garden Poppy Sidekick Frame to the distress ink panel.
3. Attach the CUT Garden Poppy Sidekick Frame to the COLORED one.
4.  Attach the COLORED Garden Poppy Stitched Frame.
5.  Attach the CUT Garden Poppy Stitched Frame.
Red-Poppies-Six
I inserted a Brush Hello die cut inside the open frame.  I cut it a second time and attached it over the first to make the die cut thicker to match the heavy outline frames.  The stamped sentiment is from the Fairy Wishes Stamp Set.  The finishing touch is a few gems for some sparkle and shine.

Red-Poppies-Three
I love the bold contrast of the red against the blue and that the coloring was easy.  I hope you give this technique a try.  The layered dies feel thick and expensive, and the coloring is clean and bold.
