Sending Christmas Cheer
by Nancy Penir
Hi Poppy Friends! It's countdown 'till Christmas card' sending, and I'm bringing some inspiration with Poppystamps Deco Tree Frame, a charming die with many fun possibilities.
I love to watercolor, and thought of a way to incorporate this technique with the Deco frame. First I die impressed the image onto watercolor cardstock. Then with Artesa pens colored the tree, and negative spaces.
The pens were one of those impulse buys, but let me tell you... I LOVE them! Rich colors that blend seamlessly, and allow for first laying down a water wash, which is what I did here.
Cut my die from gold foil paper and glued it over another die cut, giving the frame body and dimension.
Stamping on watercolor cardstock doesn't always give crisp clear images, so I decided to use acetate. Did you know you can emboss on acetate? Just be sure to use Heat Resistant Acetate.
I bought mine on Amazon. Here's a shot of the acetate I used along with the sentiment from Deco Celebrate Christmas.
I used very traditional colors with my watercolor, and the gold foil really adds to the richness of the Deco style.
Hope you're moving right along with your Christmas card making. Stay tuned for more inspiration from the Poppystamps blog!
