Hello! I'm so happy to be here today, and excited to share a birthday card inspired by chocolate! This card is not only fun and easy to make, but it also works for anyone and any age. I'll be making a lot of these to give with cupcake gifts!
It's a tri-fold card, and each panel has a fun birthday element.
The Scribble Square (cut out of dark chocolate brown and embossed with clear for a shiny finish) reminded me of when chefs create those cool designs on desserts out of chocolate. This was the background to the Double Stitch Scallop that frames the Scribble Happy Birthday. The words are cut in white to resemble frosting words on a cake. I wanted the front to look very chocolatey, and I found that using different shades of brown really helped to create the look I was after.
The card opens up to a 3/4 panel with candles. I didn't have any candle dies, but the Picket Fence worked perfect! I'll show how I made these in the video below.
The Ric Rac Stitches border die made a fun border to carry the chocolate cake/frosting theme along the top of the panel, and also gave it a nicely finished look. I love the stitches.
The candle panel opens up to a white panel and the adorable Frosted Cake completes the theme, along with some more scribbles. Plenty of room for writing or a gift card.
A lot of different dies are used for this card, and many different dies could be used in place of the dies I used. I hope you are inspired to go through your stash and see which dies would make cute candles, frosting, and culinary masterpieces!
