Summer Sunflowers
by Jeanne Jachna
I hope you're having a great day! My garden is coming along nicely! I'm already seeing plants sprouting up where seeds were planted. I can't imagine a garden without a few sunflowers. I'm always amazed at how tall they grow - taller than me!! They're always so bright and cheery and can't help but make me smile. We try to save some of the heads filled with seeds to put out for the birds in the winter!
I made mine with the Ragged Daisy die. I cut 8 sets of petals for each flower.
You can arrange them as you like, but here's how I did it. I started by creating a box in the center of four petal die cuts. Next I topped the box with two more petals in the center of the box, and again, two more sets of petals in a different direction so the circle is full.
The background was created with Peerless Watercolors. I started with a simple wash of Alice Blue and added dabs of Cobalt Blue and let them bloom for more color. When that was dry I splattered white ink all over the background.
To add more depth to the die cut flower petals I dabbed distress ink in Wild Honey to the outer edges of each petal.
Since the stacked flowers are pretty thick and the center is a little hollow from the space created by the outer layers I adhered the center of the flower with adhesive foam tape.
The scribble thank you makes a simple sentiment for this cheery card.
I hope you have a beautiful day!
