Pretty Preppy Flowers
by Sue McRae
Hi everyone, Sue here with a spring floral card.
I started by water colouring a blue background for my scene. Nothing fancy, just a quick wash of blue paint on water colour paper. After this was dry I took one of the dies from Delicate Stitches and created a frame on the background and then added a sentiment from the Ornamental Butterflies stamp set.
For the Preppy Flowers I randomly painted yellow, pinks and reds on water colour card stock and die cut the flowers from it. This way the flowers are uniquely coloured in an easy and quick way. Once the flowers were dry I brushed a thin layer of glue on them and sprinkled Distress Rock Candy Glitter on top. Since the glitter is clear you can still see the colours underneath and it gives the flowers a bit of sparkle.
I wanted a feeling of whimsy, like the flowers were swaying in the breeze so I decided to add a layer of vellum flowers behind the first layer and I really like how that turned out.
I figured a field of flowers needed a few fluttering friends so I used the Butterfly Sprinkles dies to add some butterflies.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

WoW! This card is fantastic, love it!!! You achieved the look you wanted, the flowers swaying in the breeze, I could see them moving! The butterflies make the perfect element in the scene. The vellum flowers add the movement.
This card looks like a perfect sunny spring or summer day.
